What Stupidity is This?

  • With the character of the Chicago Riverwalk and millions of dollars in tourist revenue at stake, a behind-the-scenes battle has broken out over an ambitious plan to construct an aerial tram that would link two of downtown’s most popular attractions, Navy Pier and the Riverwalk.

    In recent weeks, the proposal has been quietly shopped to civic organizations by its chief backers, Chicago hotelier Laurence Geller and Lou Raizin, president of Broadway in Chicago. They say it will give Chicago an iconic tourist attraction on a par with the London Eye wheel along the River Thames.

    But opponents contend that the tram ride would be an eyesore and that it would crowd the narrow Riverwalk. It could also compete with tour boats run by the Chicago Architecture Foundation and companies like Chicago’s First Lady Cruises and Wendella.
Just our opinion and all, but a bunch of metal towers lining the river? Maybe if they passed it off as a "crime fighting measure"? It would be difficult for the ne'er-do-wells to attack tourists if they were fifty or sixty feet in the air. Maybe make it interesting by giving the tourists cinder blocks to drop periodically.

SCC must've worked the 'jets to have looked
at this future problem as potentially self
solving...

Shit-heads flinging furniture, car parts,
toilets, busted TVs, bags of shit, bottles of piss,
cans of vegetables and who knows what else out of
the windows of those late and unlamented vertical
shit piles known as high-rise public housing.

So pardon us if we lay out laughing as a law abiding

IR#'s noggin.

Idk, sounds cool to me. $10 bucks gets you a heated, indoor half of an architectural tour. Like the monorail at Disneyland.

What could possibly go wrong with an aerial tram?

* Target practice for the downtown bangers...

* Ice...

* Wind...

Yeah, I know - they have these things in the mountains, but this IS Chicago - stuff gets really hairy weatherwise.

* Mechanical faults...

* Tram-jackers...

And just how much is this unnecessary attraction going to cost us? Why not put ALL that money into the pensions?

Just follow the money. Votes needed someone gets paid. Permits needed someone gets paid. Inspections needed someone gets paid. Exemptions needed someone gets paid. The Chicago Way in action. If idea fails it is because not enough cash flowed to Aldermen and all connected parties. Make book on that.

Ive been saying for years we should have a Tram running thru our neighborhoods. You know, like the Disney monorail or the one like in a game park. We could call it "ride thru GangsterLand" or something like that. Charge $50 a pop.

We could fund our pensions fully and the hacks will still have enough to steal. Who wouldn't want to ride thru GangsterLand in "Chi-town the world famous abode of gangsters thru the decades". The suckers would be lined up to Wilmette to go for a ride to see our 100,000 gangsters living in their natural habitat.

Charge a premium on week ends in the summer like the Cubs do.

Just wait till dude starts riding the tram like they do the CTA. What a fucken waste. Do you think there is anything in this city they can’t infect? Think again. Hopefully rham’s precious tourists are the ones who get the worst of it do they can go report their experience to the world outside of the bubble so we can get some help. The tram will be crawling and smell like piss bums in a month.

Money for unneeded trams, bassetball stafiums, pedestrian flyovers and never ending airport expansions.
Nothing for healthcare and pensions.
Another gift for the connected contractors.
Getting a deal like this fast tracked should carry Rahm’s very costly re-election run-off expenditures in March 2019.
What’s next?
Section8’Arena will want a skyline tram from The 5150 Night Misery to the Jeff Park Blue Line?
Absolutely NO cuts or accountability to spending those tax dollars.

In other news;
The Chicago Pissbum Society (CPS) Spokesperson Anton Jackson has concerns that their members will be unjustly singled out, denied boarding such a conveyance, regardless of exorbitant fares. CPS was not consulted and therefore opposes the plan. Citing that O’Hare airport tram and CTA both have liberal allowances for the free-fare indigent intracity commuter and their biological carry-ons.

This will be ugly, very ugly. They are not showing you the full set of details.
The towers, poles and turning stations will be enormous.
Nobody will want to go to the riverwalk when this is complete.
They borrowed a few hundred million dollars to build the riverwalk.
That money has to be paid back by the taxpayers.

Rahms maximizing stupidity here:

Running tab for DOJ investigation of CPD: $7.4 million and counting

https://chicago.suntimes.com/chicago-politics/running-tab-for-doj-investigation-of-cpd-7-4-million-and-counting/

Gee whose getting all this taxpayers millions?
The new totals were released by the city in response to a Freedom of Information request. They include $3.3 million to Taft Stettinius & Hollister through January; nearly $2.1 million through December to the Washington, D.C., law firm of Wilmer Hale, which once counted Corporation Counsel Edward Siskel as a partner; $1.7 million to The Bromwich Group through January; and $230,372 to Polis Solutions Inc. through August.

Siskel did not participate in the DOJ probe. Wilmer Hale continued its work for the city even after Siskel replaced Steve Patton as corporation counsel.

The consulting fees include a previously disclosed $4,000 paid last summer to former Washington, D.C., police chief Cathy Lanier. One month later, Lanier retired to become senior vice president of security for the National Football League.

* even a Washington police chief gets a little cut? Will the money “funnel” back to rahm and friends? Just read the dumbest of dumb the Irish morons are inviting rahm to get a big award in Ireland, will taxpayers foot this bill? Thought rahm was Jewish but yet he is being honored out of the country! Expect he was tipped off a big scandal will break when he is “out of town,”
