No Bail?

  • A Chicago man with only a misdemeanor supervision in his past was ordered held without bail Tuesday after Cook County prosecutors said he shattered a window at a judge’s home a day after he had cursed her out from his car.

Michael Laureto, 36, of the Logan Square neighborhood, faces felony charges of criminal damage to property and threatening a public official for the incident Sunday at the home of Judge Stephanie Miller.

Judge David Navarro, who was hearing the regular bond court call Tuesday, recused himself from deciding Laureto’s bail because Miller is his colleague in the Pretrial Division. Instead, Judge Ursula Walowski, who regularly sits in the Criminal Division, stepped in and ordered Laureto held without bail, saying he poses “a real and present danger” to the public.
It certainly would be nice to see some consistency across the board in Cook County Courts and not simply based on who the victim happens to be.

He should've shot out the window with a gun. He would've been given the normal crook county i-bond.

AND you can assume judges don't fix case either????

Did they send Detectives out too for the poor judge?

And did felony review get that special call that said HEY ITS A BIG COUNTY JUDGE throw the book at the window breaker.

Let me guess that felony rule of under 1k not a felony was not used. The did not tell the judge to get a summons?

This is a slap in the face to every law abiding citizen of Crook County. It's giving a big fu to the vast majority of people and saying only the connected and rich are worth protecting. Any other victim and this would be a quick I bond. Ridiculous.

"All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others".

[Laureto] ... “a real and present danger” to the public...

For breaking a window and yelling insults interpreted as threats?

While multi-convicted felons charged with selling dope, banging off pistols, carjacking like it's going out of style and getting pinched for any other of a myriad of felonies are granted I-Bonds or low D-Bonds.

Crook County = Total. Fucking. Joke.

Not to mention racist as all hell.

Normally, just breaking a window would be an I-bond and a Dart pizza. Judges are special victims though.

If this guy broke your window or cursed you out, he would be I-bonded and home before you cleaned up the glass; that is if OEMC even bothered to send a car out to arrest this guy in the first place. It doesn’t matter what happens to the average working guy.

So a simple criminal damage to property offender gets no bond , while carjackers , shooters, and AggBatt to police officers get Ibonds to go home. The precedent has been set. Every offender should be held now

Let us not forget, it was the POLICE that placed this oh so dangerous criminal in custody and brought him before another judge. By “us,” I specifically mean judges. Must be nice to abdicate from your throne while the proletariat can’t even get an offender implicated in video and audio for torture and a hate crime to serve any jail time. Broken legal system.

Judge Miller gives everyone low bonds or Ibonds on felonies. Yet when she is the victim of a misdemeanor they sandbag this guy and charge him with a felony. Bet if he was of color he too would have gotten an ibond. But he is white so no bond on what is a misdemeanor cddtp. The judge is up for reelection. Keep that in mind.

Wonder if it was a police officer's home would a Judge have held this person in custody? Another point though, why was this individual charged with a felony to begin with? It seems there must be more to the story. If it were only a CDTP misdemeanor then the arrestee should have been I bonded out from the District station and never seen Bond Court.
Yes or no?

that has always been the case. An attack on a judge or a police officer or a legislator must have stronger rules and procedures and penalties. An attack on these people is an attack on all of society as a whole.

As I think about this, I have zero problem with this defendant getting a NO BAIL. What I have a HUGE problem with are all the other defendants who are getting I bonds or low bonds who also deserve NO BAIL even for violent cases and gun cases.

And what's truly ironic is that Judge Miller is notorious for handing down low bonds and I-bonds to defendants who shouldn't be able to walk the streets. She is following orders from Chief Judge Evans who is following orders from Toni Preckwinkle but that is a sorry excuse for allowing society to be victimized over and over again.

What I don't understand, is Judge Miller is endorsed by FOP, for reelection. Does anybody at FOP look at these judges records? She is no friend to the Police or the citizens. She gives everybody I-bonds. Hey FOP, wake up over there.

In theory, yes.

In the county of the crooked & city of the shitty, not so much.

And when these theorectical public functionaries are woefully flawed and fail, oftimes with knowing intent, in their theoretical obligations and duties which you implied they have accepted, fuck 'em.....for they are as harmful, if not more harmful, then the miscreants who are not impeded in acting upon their criminal and heinous natures.

The presumption of purity of intent being a given quality of all who declare that their well being is of greater value than the misnomered "common citizen" is, and has always been, an error in thinking.

Love is the only experience which is given.

Trust must always be earned.

Continuing Trust must always be continually earned.

And, no, the vote tallies of any election have not a fucking thing to do with earning Trust.
