Another "No Bond" Debacle

  • Authorities said a Northwest Side man with 12 felony convictions claimed to be a Chicago police officer when security guards at a Walmart stopped him as he tried to leave the store with more than $90 in cigarette lighters tucked inside his coat.

Police said Cristobal Villarreal was inside a Walmart in the 4600 block of West Diversey Avenue around 2 p.m. Thursday when a cashier saw him stuff several packs of Bic lighters into his coat and walk past the last point of sale without paying for the items.

When three security guards approached him and asked whether he paid for the items, Villarreal — who was dressed in a Chicago Cubs cap, a Chicago police shirt and coat adorned with police patches and an empty blue bulletproof vest cover — told the men he was "the police" and kept walking, according to Cook County prosecutors and police.

Two of the guards then told Villarreal that they were also Chicago police officers working security at the store and all three guards tried to take him into custody after noticing several items concealed under his clothing, according to an arrest report.

The 57-year-old Villarreal insisted that he was a four-year member of the department, prosecutors told a judge Saturday at the Leighton Criminal Court Building.
Twelve Felony CONVICTIONS along with something like forty misdemeanors, in a slapdash police uniform, claiming to be the police, and what's his bond?
  • Judge Stephanie K. Miller released Villarreal on a personal recognizance bond, but gave him a curfew from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Boy, that curfew is sure going to deter this asshole.

This Democrat liberal, has put U.S citizens in danger. This dept mission statement is creating a safer community. Now the Chief Judge Tim Evans appointed a political hack with agree in anthropology the run this law enforcement department. What a insult to every citizen in this County.

Chief Judge Evans pulled all the decent judges like Chiampas from bond court and replaced them with a bunch of newbie snow flakes with instructions not to send anyone to Cook County Jail if possible. Have you noticed the signs in the courthouses informing defendants that under the new rules they are entitled to a bond they can afford? So, if you are a serious felony offender but lacking funds, you can still be set free on bond. Is it any wonder why there were 1000 carjackings and robberies are up in the Loop, South Loop and Mag Mile. The bad guys have no fear of arrest because they know they will be back on the street within 24 hours.

ICE doesn't put their detainers into NCIC with an N number for Illinois. No one has to honor those detainers except other ICE officers. They need to do just a bit more work and get that hold number. That way liability is off CPD, WC and arresting officer.
ICE doesn't do what they are supposed to do. You try to get another agency to keep a guy in custody without all the paperwork entered into the computer. They'll laugh and hang up the phone. If anything goes wrong ICE just lujacked the thing onto you. Ask a detective what this means.

According to Dart and Foxx, only non violent crimes qualify for house arrest, like armed robbery and attempted murder. The judges are under orders from the Chief Judge to release as many criminals as possible. This might be part of the reason there are almost 6000 warrants issued in Illinois so far this year. But don’t worry, Darts next idea is to not enforce warrants.

Need to put him on a bus with a one way ticket to one of the rural counties far away from this sanctuary city and watch what happens when he attempts to shoplift there.
Some downstate judge will give him 13 months to contemplate that shoplifting is not an entitlement.

For me, it's to work until i'm 63 years old because I don't know how to manage my money and then share a double wide trailer with a retired stripper in Alabama and drink canned beer at the start of every day I have left on this earth.

Does your retired stripper friend have a sister?

Do we have a list of judges that have made terrible decisions, have set low bonds like this one, and have not upheld the law. We should have a list so we can all vote no next time they run

All of them

Not all of them. Nicholas Ford is a great judge. We need more like him

If AG Sessions and the federal government had any balls, they would start sending federal agents into these sanctuary states and cities and begin locking up the governors, mayors, aldermen and other elected officials who are not co-operating with the feds and are violating federal law and not following their oath of office to uphold the laws and constitution of the u.s. and the state. Let's see how they change their tune. It would be nice to see Rahm in handcuffs and an orange suit!!!

You all do realize the judges (for once) aren't solely to blame here, don't you? This "new and improved" set of rules for bond procedures, driven through the state legislature by Dart and Foxxx, holds judges by the nuts (or other organ) if they don't release anyone that isn't an immediate danger to the public. And, it *REQUIRES* them to set bond at such a level that the accused is able to pay. Which means, your basic empty-pockets shitbag gets to walk with whatever kind of mediocre restrictions the judge can use, but the basic fact is the judges HAVE to let em go...

We're dealing with this fallout already, and of course the FTA warrants are gonna go out the roof. BUT now Dart and his cronies can tell everyone "crime is down, look, there's nobody in jail!".
