We're predicting a record year this time around as temperatures are going to be in the 50's and 60's tomorrow, and there isn't any snow in the foreseeable future.
We'll guess at 145 cars this year.

Oh please. The city would never ask coppers to ticket and tow cars, when there isn't even any snow on the ground. That would go against our Legitimacy classes, and Gaining the Trust, and the rest of the bullshit they have been shoveling.

Fireman don't typically wear badges. I can see how it would be easy to misplace or get liberated by a fambly member or other sticky fingered associate.

Well my WC said I was doing a fine job since I made it to the district and told me even though I only had 2 years on the job, he could probably help to get me on midnights as a BID vs my current midnights management spot so I wrote every car last night. Man those tow drivers were hooking them all night. Then that pushover soft day WC was actually mad at me once everyone started calling after 0600 to complain.

The best advice I got when I came on the job 27 years ago was watch out for the Firemen. They all think they are the Police. They are some of the first ones to tell you how to do your job and fuck up a scene. Then they will rat you out in a heartbeat. They have all day at the Firehouse to pretend they are heroes. Its held true all these years. Now the paramedics on the other hand, they work their asses off. They deserve respect.

12:21 hit the nail on the head - CFD issues a retired badge&ID. These bozos wanted to keep the higher rank badge. ALWAYS axe em for the ID, there are a lot of badges floating around out there. No ID? Inventory the item. Disposition - TOT CFD. If they're legit, let them retrieve it from CFD.

Correct, the Star is what you wear.
But the Term "Badge of Office" still is correct.
CFD badge is a rectangle as I recall.
Finance Street Ops staff wear a Star.
TMA use a Shield
Lots of other Departments in Chicago use a Star.
But it is still your badge of Office.
As a citizen and the tickets I was issued, residents read EVERY darn thing related to no-parking, do not even think about parking and hell no do not park here!
