Friday's Bad News Release

  • Embattled Chicago Public Schools CEO Forrest Claypool resigned Friday after being accused of engaging in a “full-blown cover-up” during an ethics investigation by the district’s inspector general

Chicago school board President Frank Clark said Claypool’s resignation is effective Dec. 31.
The vigor with which Rahm defended Claypool's corruption means one of a few things to us:
  • Rahm is losing his touch;
  • Claypool knows where too many bodies are buried
Maybe Rahm's resistance to an elected School Board is about to collapse?

And that wasn't the only bad news released late Friday:
  • Moments before it was supposed to be considered by a jury, the city of Chicago has moved to settle a major police misconduct case in which it failed to produce a critical disciplinary report involving the officer until the middle of the trial, years after such documents were first requested.
Rahm is obviously counting on the weekend news cycle (and the SNOW EMERGENCY!!! reporting that the news channels are already running - like it doesn't ever snow in Chicago) to deaden the impact of two political black eyes.

Big deal. Claypool will land on his feet, in another government job, from which he'll receive another government pension.

Wasn't this the job they gave him so he wouldn't run for mayor?

Will he receive a pension from this gig?

Claypool has been around for YEARS. He is definitely a Crown Prince of Clout.

So he steps down as CEO, big deal. Where will he go next?

He'll surface in some other top position. President of a Museum, like Science & Industry? That's a $1,000,000+ gig. That's why it isn't FREE anymore - they pay a LOT of patronage hacks.

Claypool will land on his feet.

Jean Claude Brizard only lasted a year (2011-2012) before he realized he was in waaaay over his head, and run out of town.
Forest Claypool--(2015-2017) brought down by the CPS Inspector General's report.

All planned. Rahm can't admit he made another bad appointment at CPS. So he backs Claypool to the hilt while behind doors tells him that he has to go. Claypool accedes and leaves and will probably end up someplace like the MPEA (McCormick & Navy Pier) that is already run by Rahm's placement Lori Healy. All this allows Rahm to pander to the public but still keep control as well as the illusion that he backs his people.

This is why they don't want former/retired
Chicago Coppers in these OIG/Govermemtal
Watchdog type jobs in Chicago...

Coppers know "things."

Some wily "Policeman-To-His-Core" might
fuck around and give the Feds a "Treasure Map"
with political, corporate and media powers-that-be
X'd and circled for their abject Fuckery.

And such a "Treasure Map" might prove ultimately
to be fatally actionable...

"Clout" exists solely as a firewall against
the fatally actionable being aimed at the
political, corporate and media powers-that-be
in Chicago.

Which sort of explains why there is so much
revelry in seeing The Police getting served really
hard as of late and being cast as the source of
all that ails Chicago.

Heh...

Some wild-assed, free-thinking "nutron"
Copper might slip past the layers of gate-keepers
and palace guards and REALLY fuck up the clout
and money-making apparatus the inner party has
painstakingly put in place.

I sort of expected this. Didn't Rahm give McCarthy a vote of confidence before canning him for becoming a "distraction" approximately forty-eight to seventy-two hours later?

So much of this police reform nonsense is simply a smoke screen to cover the fact that Rahm buried the videotape of the McDonald shooting in order to safeguard his reelection bid. Special Ed once rated the shooting as justifiable and nobody is calling for his dismissal.

CPS finances sure go unsupervised, or managed without any oversight.

Remember, before jack-of-all-trades Ronold Huberman had his short stints at CPS and equally corrupt CTA, he was caught buying, stockpiling outdated equipment and altering the invoices while at the helm of OEMC.

Neither Claypool, Huberman or Rahm are MBA finance guys, yet they got all this praise as fiscal turnaround reformers.
So please ring on the audit AG Sessions, our local state Democrat AG is a weak, distracted, mindless twit.

So as of December 31st Forrest Claypool is out as CPS CEO, whoopie.

But we all know it, he 'ain't' goin' nowhere.

On Tuesday, January 2nd, Claypool will likely walk into a new cushy office at the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority, aka McCormick Place, for a nice six figure salary. He 'prolly' won't be on the Board of Directors right away, Rahm's four picks are filled right now.

But that won't stop Tiny Dancer, there's always that old, 'I'm resigning to spend more time with my family.' ploy, pols love to use. And I'm sure Rahm can convince one of his four toadies on the board that they need to be with their family.

To paraphrase General Douglas MacArthur .....
'Machine Politicians never really get fired, they just wind up at McCormick Place'

There can be No Doubt, that Nick Schuler, former CPD Sgt,. has become the "Grand Inquisitor" in the Kingdom of Rahm. Lest we forget, this is the second CEO of Chicago Public Schools that the former Jesuit Seminarian has brought down. Schuler turned his investigation of Barbara Byrd Bennett over to the FBI, when he discovered that she was ripping off federal money. It seems that Fr. Schuler is one of one of very few officials willing to put public interests ahead of their own political ambitions. For example; another Inspector General over at City Colleges of Chicago finds crime, misconduct and mismanagement of federal money; and his response is to bury it with the Chancellor, so that it can be forgotten. No effort for Prosecution or Restitution is made. Instead, the goal is to Protect the Image of a Diploma Mill, while the offenders scurry off to work at other colleges. Schuler, unlike Gasiarowski the Inspector General at City Colleges of Chicago, realizes he works for the citizens of Chicago, rather than the Democrat Machine. Taking down two top CPS Officials was no minor feat. And as with McCarthy, in this case only 24 hours earlier, Rahm was saying in so many words that he had Claypool's back! I guess as with so many other things Rahm says; when he says he has your back, it means you are being lied to and about to be Fired! Rahm lies, and careers die! Stay Safe. Baby "G"

Isn't this the same lawyer-buddy he protected at Chicago Park District more than two decades ago? Why does it seem like the same dozen people apparently get appointed to govern Chicago agencies, over and over again, from agency to agency, inept as ever, clouted as ever, collecting a pocketful of pensions and honorariums?

In the meantime, Rahm's political fortunes improve, and his polling is on the upswing
From Capitol Fax:
Polling shows Emanuel is no longer upside down
Tuesday, Dec 5, 2017
* Greg Hinz has a pair of poll results on Mayor Rahm Emanuel today. One was taken of Chicagoans in US Rep. Mike Quigley’s district which showed a 57 percent favorable rating and a 41 percent unfavorable rating. Emanuel’s job performance was a net positive, at 52-46. The sample for both polls was of likely Democratic primary voters for next March. So, it doesn’t include the smallish number of Chicagoans who take Republican ballots (about 11 percent last year) and those who may not vote in the mayoral race.
The other one…
The other survey—actually, results of two polls of 584 likely [Chicago Democratic primary] voters conducted in late October and then late November—was conducted by a national firm that has done previous work in Illinois. The pollster involved asked questions about Emanuel as part of his survey for a statewide candidate and while neither will allow their names to be used, I spoke with the pollster directly.
In this survey, Emanuel citywide got a personal favorable rating of 50 percent positive and 40 percent negative. His rating from African-Americans was slightly better than among whites, 51/37 as opposed to 51/42, due mostly to a strong 56/32 rating from black women.
Emanuel’s rating on the North Side was 53 percent favorable to 38 percent unfavorable, fairly close to the results in Quigley’s district. The split was narrower on the South Side, 49 percent to 40 percent, and almost even on the West Side, 47 percent to 44 percent.
Those numbers collectively “look like the coalition that elected him last time,” said the pollster, asserting that Emanuel’s public efforts to get more state school aid for Chicago Public Schools, hire more police and help immigrants are having an impact. And overall, Emanuel’s numbers probably are stronger than they appear because the survey excludes Republicans, who likely would lean toward the mayor in a challenge from a progressive on the political left such as Garcia, the pollster said.

Rahm has destroyed the police department, violent crime is out of control, and he supported a lying corrupt politician running the Board of Education, in addition to furthering ruining that agency. He is taking a hatchet to retiree benefits, and is empowering a rogue police oversight agency to destroy the lives and careers of officers, and you guys are supporting him?
Wait till he increases the property taxes, and runs more population out of Chicago. Anyone that votes for Rahm deserves what they get.
