Charges

  • A convicted felon was charged with shooting a Chicago Police officer during a foot pursuit late Wednesday in the Rosemoor neighborhood on the Far South Side.

Anthony Woodridge, 25, was charged with felony counts of attempted first degree murder, aggravated discharge of a firearm and aggravated battery by discharge of a firearm, according to Chicago Police.
And a surprise:
  • Woodridge then shot the officer in his hand during an ensuing pursuit, and continued firing at him when he fell to the ground, said Johnson, who insisted that the shooter was “obviously trying to kill the officer.”

An additional bullet was found lodged in the back of the officer’s ballistic vest.....
So the Officer was hit multiple times. The offender is no stranger to the Criminal Justice system:
  • Johnson explained Thursday that Woodridge had been arrested 25 times as an adult, and convicted of four felonies. Most recently, he was convicted of possessing a handgun as a felon on parole and sentenced to nearly five years in prison last June.
Sentenced to five years in prison just six months ago....and walking the street just Wednesday. Armed.

And with 25 adult arrests, that's about 3-to-4 arrests a year since coming of age. If he had been sentenced to just a single year for each offense, concurrent, he'd be in jail until he was 50 or so.

Ed couldn't leave well enough alone though, but had to prove he's still Rahm's ass-kissing superintendent:
  • Johnson stressed the need to pass “more commonsense gun laws” to give police and citizens “the tools to be safe.”
Aren't there already laws to jail violent offenders? Didn't happen. Aren't there laws that say felons shouldn't have guns? Didn't happen. Maybe there are laws that say if you violate parole over and over again on 25 previous arrests, you should be incarcerated to finish the sentence you were paroled on? Didn't happen.

How about enforcing the fucking laws on the books? That'd be the most common sense of all.

When I read stuff like this I recall what my grandfather once told me. He was born in Kansas is 1888. He lived to be 90 dying in 1978. He told me that in his early 20's in western Kansas he was a deputy sheriff. He said he hung a couple of horse thieves after the judge convicted them. He said it might sound cruel but you only got convicted of stealing one horse.
Criminal justice has sure gone in a different direction.

It’s pathetic that the highest ranking officer in the department would not have the balls to say “this offender should have never been on the street” instead of a stupid statement about gun laws, which are in place to fight this sort of crime. His own officer was shot down, and then shot in the back, by a coward who, if existing gun laws already in place were enforced with appropriate time served, would NOT have been on the street. The superintendent is just as much a coward as the shooter. And he is every bit as crooked as the judges and jail officials that let the offender walk free. He should be asahamed. Not for all the money in the world would I make a statement like that while one of my own was just being shot down like a dog. These judges and white shirts would sell their souls for the $180k they make. Don’t worry, their judgment will come. And there won’t be a dollar amount that can buy their way out of it. And it won’t be a Crook County judge either.

This department is screwed from the top down. This cop is laying in a hospital getting his hand put back in one piece (hopefully) and that’s the support he gets. “We need more laws.”

Prayers to the officer.

This POS is considered to be a hero in his community just trying to stay out of jail and provide for his "children" while turning his life around. But the Police always got to be messing with him, as the ghetto logic narrative goes...

A different angle and the officer might have been killed. These political hacks will hang you out to dry. Only care about the "community" and its values!

This judge should have offender live in Section 8 housing next door or across the street.

But no! Catch & release again & again. If the idiot hasn't learned after (fill in the blank) arrests, I'm sorry.

It's this gang mentality, culture, or lack of it, that is creeping into society.
What is the "norm" now, would be page 1 news and not accepted 20 years ago.
Now, we have "tolerance," "understanding" and more than enough ways to mold a perfect society. The lines between right/wrong, good/evil have been blurred.

This is led by corrupted people in high places: mayors, governors, religious, your boss, ACLU, universities, companies, etc.

Hope & change indeed!

This is really an evil world. You cannot look at these things will rose-colored glasses.

NOT ILLINOIS. NOT LAW.

It's very funny how the superintended prefaces his statement by saying he doesn't think arresting the problem away will work. However his administration and management team continue to criticize many for "lack of activity". Then something like this comes up, a police officer shot and nearly killed, he decides to use that as a platform to half ass show dissatisfaction with the court system. EJ has done nothing, I repeat nothing, to help the citizens of Chicago or protect the Police Officers of this department. It is very clear that everything he does and says has to be cleared by the midget at City Hall. I say it is time that somebody demonstrate that he or she has a backbone and show complete outrage regarding how the mayor and the superintendent have failed all of us. We know that it won't be EJ because the one time that he had an opportunity to demonstrate he has a backbone in front of the cameras he was Punked out by a couple of thugs. This happened in front of our police headquarters.

Am I missing something here? I am not a fan of the current States Attorney or most of the judges in Cook County but this person was convicted and sentenced to 5 years in prison. Who is at fault here? Is it not the Illinois Department of Corrections that allowed this repeat offender out on the street? Everyone is complaining about the Judges and the States Attorney and I agree that there are plenty of criticism to go around with them. I watched the Superintendent's news conference and he never criticized the Illinois Department of Corrects. I also agree with SSC and many of your posters regarding the Superintendent's comments about common sense gun laws. I can't think of any new law that would have prevented this shooting. As far as the FOP is concerned I have a suggestion. Every month the Illinois Department of Corrections sends out a list of people let out on parole and/or jail. This information also contains the following information: Date of Offence, Date of conviction, how many days was the person in jail prior to the conviction date, the Offense that the person was convicted of, the sentence, and finally how many days the offender served in prison. The FOP if it was SMART could compile a list and every month could publish what a horse shit job the Illinois Department of Corrects are doing? This is not brain surgery Kevin!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also, watched O'Shea on Fox News this morning. I am stating the obvious here, but I’m going to keep stating it until it goes mainstream and our politicians have to answer for it:

Foxx and the retained judiciary need votes to get/stay in office. Understanding that the lower and even some middle class AA families in Chicago have relatives with a lot of interactions with the CJ system, being weak on crime - second chance after second chance after second chance - delivers the votes. What is shocking - and a sad commentary really - is that the voters of Chicago - or The Machine - or whatever - panders more to the voters who want their criminal relative or friends free and back in the community than the voters who want to live in peace and safety.

That’s right.

There is a “criminal class” here in Chicago and people (or folks) like Prickwrinckle, Dart, Foxx, and Rahm know it. Their actions are deliberate. They are courting the criminal class voters the way politicians court any other group.

What should be answered is how and who released him. Was it the parole board, the department of corrections or was he incarcerated for 2 years while awaiting trial and that along with a year after being sentenced in June 2016 made up the 3 years which made him eligible for a parole hearing.

...do officers understand that this scenario could have played out so "f'n" differently. Imagine MF got the drop on him before he fired his weapon and dude runs off and dies in a corner but ditches the gun - MF is stripped, all his old CR's are reopened and his face is in the paper for weeks. Or worse, he could have been killed and his family (blood and blue) mourn every f'n holiday season for the next 30 years. Have we not learned from the guys in 004?! Have we not learned from every other f'n coppers case that has been reopened because shot #3 was unjustified but shots #1 & #2 were all good (all shots fired consecutively)?! Have we not learned anything from the Sgt. in 007?! Or the Sgt (was soon to be Lt.) & PO in 025?! The Sgt. & officers in 008?! God, I could go on but Im sure you get the point.

I'm elated the officers are safe and he'll spend the holidays with his family getting better BUT wake the "f" up brother and sisters. I have loved this job since the day I joined but this is not the time to be the police. We go from HERO to VILLAN in a split second OR worse, we hesitate BECAUSE OF THE AFOREMENTIONED and DIE!!!

This is the result of the "criminal justice reform" brought about by Toni Preckwinkle and her minion State's Attorney Kim Foxx and her First Assistant Eric Sussman. This is the new era of non-prosecution of criminals intended discourage police from arresting people and create a new system that favors criminals over victims and the rest of law abiding society. It's the George Soros funded socialist plan through and through. In an effort to make it appear that their new "reform" is bringing down crime, they now just create legal fiction by re-classifying crime. For instance, the CCSAO now charges all Delivery of a Controlled Substance (commonly known as drug dealing) as a class 4 straight Possession of a Controlled Substance. They now charge car jacking as a possession of a stolen motor vehicle. They charge possession of a stolen motor vehicle as a misdemeanor trespass to vehicle. They no longer prosecute many parole violations at all - same with driving on a suspended license and retail theft.

Its easy to create the illusion that crime is not out of control when you actively conceal the fact that crime is being committed.

OT: SCC, did you see one of the offenders pleaded guilty to
Racially-charged hate crime with mentally disabled boy? 4 years of PROBATION. Judge Hooks said he could be sentenced her to prison but wasn't sure if that would help her. He further cautioned, "don't mess this up" and to use this opportunity to better herself. This is insane. Had this been the other way around there would be riots. This is complete state-sanctioned racial violence. Why is a twisted criminal being treated like some innocent victim and given opportunities before an actual punishment? I fucking hate this city. If it were the other way around and the offenders were white I would be equally as outraged. This is just pathetic

The upper brass of this dept. should have to be elected in order to serve in their positions so at the first sign of a screw up or scandal, it’s right out the door and straight to the unemployment line. Maybe then they’ll start to straighten up their act and back up & support the rank & file of the department.

What would Ed know about common sense? He is just parroting the liberal mantra. What they mean is ban all guns. That way only criminals will be armed. Get a CC while you can and be ready to use it to defend you and yours. The police are powerless and leaderless. On the other hand the criminals are emboldened and highly motivated, a very bad situation for the honest citizens. Time for the haves to take charge and shown the havenots who is boss. Yes boss, if your paying their way, and you are, that makes you the boss. Wait until the welfare crackdown next year things will get very ugly in the ghetto, and spill out from there. Get armed and get ready, trouble is on it's way.

Common sense is something Fat Ed is severely lacking. Laws, this is Chicago we don't need no stinking laws. Were a sanctuary city, laws don't apply to criminals only to taxpayers. Keep paying your taxes your supporting at least 1/2 of city population and growing daily. That is the bad news. The good news is the 1.8 killed will require no more welfare support. Need to improve criminals weapon accuracy so the 1.8 per day goes to 4-5 per day. All those wounded cost a lot of money, taxpayers much better of if criminal aim is improved.

Scc,

As long as we are on the topic of repeat offenders that don't belong on the street and are immediately released, I'd like to bring you up to speed about case that also happened within the last month with another recidivist felon.

So around mid November, this particular offender was involved in a car chase along with another male and approximately 4 females in a car that was chased by numerous units and eventually apprehended along with the help of the helicopter in 004. Before being apprehended , the offenders vehicle, which was a stolen Infiniti sedan, struck one of the units apparently injuring the officers. The offender and the co defendants were arrested and a handgun was also recovered near the crashed vehicle and where the offenders had been arrested.

When it was time to call into felony review, the ASA who was contacted not only refused to approve any felony charges including PSMW, UUW or even the felony for leaving the scene of a PI accident where P/o's were injured, he/she refused to even review the incident or provide their name to the arresting officers or watch Commander in 004. I don't pretend to have all the details of the incident and I apologize if inaccurate in any facts, but the WC in 004 wrote a well versed and factual diatribe in the WC comments in regards to the incident and incompetence and lack of cooperation by the CCSAO.

Now, it turns out that this particular vehicle had been suspected to have been used in several other armed robberies in the days prior and robbery proceeds had even been recovered from the stolen vehicle. The driver/offender was subsequently charged with misd. Cttv and traffic offenses and sent on his merry way.

Now, lets fast forward to 3 days ago,
Would you believe it?, the piece of shit felon that was let go by the CCSAO was caught in a stolen Range Rover with of all things, another handgun in the vehicle. Happily he was charged with UUW Felon in this incident, but this is just a daily reminder of how the CCSAO dropped the ball and continues to fail to uphold their end of the agreement and actually do their god damn jobs.

Hey useless media parasites,
This is happening day in and day out in the city and all you can do is write and broadcast
bullshit stories trying to figure out why carjackings and robberies are through the roof. Wake the hell up and start digging deeper into the backgrounds of the offenders and the bullshit sentences they serve. While you're at it, do yourself a favor and start monitoring the rulings given out by these so called judges at 26th and Cal and how often the felons they give probation to or take it easy on commit crimes and terrorize their communities. Finally why don't you inquire how often the CCSAO denies felony charges and chooses to let these type of felons go with out so much as even a slap on the wrist.

How many times does one need to be arrested before he's finally locked up for life? Forty times? Fifty? One hundred? What is it libtards?
=============
He can be arrested a million times. How long he gets locked up for depends on what crimes he is convicted of, if any.

A lot of these thugs have a fair number of arrests that result in no charges or dropped charges. I don't have any solid numbers to back up this hunch but my suspicion would be that the majority of arrests of these hoodlums result in no convictions. I suspect there are multiple reasons for that situation, if it indeed is the case.

by law, it is possible for a prisoner to get out after serving 60 days for many class 4 felonies. with the prisons as crowded as they are, there is a lot of incentive for the DOC to let out those inmates who behave themselves while in prison.

if you don't like this situation, you need to get the legislature to change the law.

Part of the problem is the Chicago media and the cronies who report and run it. Todays Tribune ran a "fluff" piece about West Point Quarterback Ahmad Ali Bradshaw from Chicago. The Tribune painted a saint like profile of him. Then along come The Daily Beast today which blows the Tribune's article apart. Bradshaw was accused of rape, with the allegations ruled 'inconclusive' and was allowed to stay at West Point after having been found guilty of "Honor Code." violations, and a litany of other violations with vocal dissenters crying cover up. The Daily Beast article painted a darker and more dangerous portrait of Bradshaw. What the hell is going on at the Tribune?

Once was going through the jury selection process for an aggravated rape case (Texas). The judge read the sentencing guidelines out IIRC (min was five years and max was life). He asked if anyone had any questions. I raised my hand and asked 'if the defendant is found guilty and sentenced to an intermediate period of time - not the minimum and not the maximum, will he serve out that entire sentence?' The gavel of the judge broke the sound barrier as it came down. "Inappropriate question and it will be disregarded" was the judge's comment. How do you un-hear something? It made people think. I was thanked for my time and sent on my way.

FYI scc, but this is a perfect example of our new general order and use of force matrix. According to the new use of force order you can’t shoot an offender for only fleeing even if he is fleeing with a gun in hand. Obviously the order says to not risk your life just to adhere to this order but this officer was following this new use of force order to the T and he ended up taking two bullets for it. This needs to be front page news...

On a similar topic Judge Bourgeois (the M/1) has been stepping in at branch 50 felony court. I’ve sat through his calls numerous times and it never fails. It doesn’t matter what you have or the facts of your arrest...NO Probable Cause each and every time. I sat through the entire call one day and he found not one offender with probably cause. I get the whole anything under a gram gets tossed bit, but a lot of these were mfg/del arrests, agg batt arrests where actual victims signed complaints....he gives no fucks but will give you the old “you did a good job officer...no probable cause”. He’s lost his mind and is drinking way too much of Kool-Aid the people above him are giving him.

Carjackings are now happening, with shots fired on Austin Blvd or in the east side of Oak Park. The community is bitching at the Oak Park Police brass for more protection, and at the same time, these same assholes are putting "BLACK LIVES MATTERS" signs on their freaking lawns. One, get rid of those freaking signs, - a) It tells these officers that they are the problem and not the perps. b) alerts the perps that you are ripe for the picking (armed robberies, purse snatching, car- jackings, home invasions, or worse. Two, get yourself a concealed carry license, training and packing heat. Three, support the police. Rant Over.
