Marathon Day

  • Questions have surfaced about the Chicago-based security company charged with keeping people safe at this Sunday’s Bank of America Chicago Marathon.

The security company, known for its red windbreaker-wearing employees, lost its contract with the Minnesota Vikings and its Minnesota security license, CBS 2’s [...] reports.

Along with the Chicago Marathon, Monterrey Security works at a number of major venues across the city, including Soldier Field. The company has gone the past 10 years in Illinois without a negative citation.

Monterrey, however, just lost its contract with the Vikings, who have a brand-new stadium.

It is alleged the company double-billed the team and failed to properly do background checks and train employees — and hired workers with criminal records.
A crooked security company in Chicago? Double billings? Felons and questionable background employees? But they contribute to the correct politicians, so business as usual.

Pointed this out last week.
They were busing jokers off the streets of Chicago to be Security.
They "could not find the paperwork."

It was so bad, that no only were they fired by the Vikings, their entire license to operate was pulled by the State of Minnesota.

Something is rotten in Illinois if the company
has a 10-year clean record, yet were booted
by the Purple People Eaters, new stadium or not.
Hard to believe Vikings uncovered numerous
valid infractions, yet the record in Illinois is lily
white.
And what does that say about the integrity of
Chicago hiring this company to cover a life and
death event? Anti-terrorist or anti-sniper training?
I highly doubt it.
The Red Coats must have had the lowest bid, so
indeed it is business as usual for BOA and Chicago.

I get it, there are people who have criminal records who should never work again. Murder, pedophiles, assault, things of that nature. But when you just say criminal record, that is extremely wide ranging. Could be a weed possession case, could be domestic. Also and you will get pissed for this, but you cannot have a record if the charges are never filed or dismissed. Does that make you better? We all need to eat and take care of our families. If you refuse to allow someone to work, ever, they will turn to other means. Employment should depend on the offense, period.

Let the accountants figure how much the Chicago Marathon drops into the city's coffers . Will it at least cover the Cpd. & Cfd. Expenses? No F.way. T4axpayers on the hook again? Just to be cool, to host this event, cause we need a world class event for the jags who like to run until they hurt ?

To add the "1,000 extra cops", 1st watch in districts sent numerous officers to guard the route from people planting possible weapons. Great for safety. Unfortunately it left the districts bare. 004 and 006 were a joke for manpower. Once again, all smoke and mirrors.

As a runner in today’s race, here are my thoughts:
1) Monterrey makes me feel less safe. They’ve always been a bunch of jokers.
2) I’ll try to play “spot the 1000 extra officers” but since they’re all undercover or something I probably won’t. Why would Rahm lie to me? ;)
3) I feel bad for the officers watching today because this isn’t a fun activity but am glad they’re here for me.
4) The FBI agents have no sense of humor. Apparently when you approach a gorgeous one and say “I’d like to report a crime..: you stole my heart” they don’t find it funny.

Be safe everyone.

Chicago Values at work in Minnesota. They were to smart to continue to allow the Chicago Way to continue in their city. When is Chicago going to do the same? Ball is now in your court, will this company have their dealings with the city investigated? Probably not would be to embarrassing to many clouded crooks in city government. All will be swept under the and it will be business as usual in the Windy City.

Oh so this is were we get the additional 1,000 officers??? Hire a shaddy outfit? I guess this is the future...start hiring private security firms to patrol marathons, concerts, gay pride, world series events, all because the tiny dancer KNOWS for a fact how dangerously short on personnel we are. Glad we are all safe!

You make a valid point however employment should not only depend on the offense but also what kind of work you can do. Maybe security job is not the best fit for a pot head.

Juan Gayton a former CPD is a heavy hitter. He knows how to spread the wealth and any fool should know that you don't get these big contracts without doing so. The fact that he lost the Minnesota contract was purely political and he didn't have enough juice up there to defend himself. But now he will have problems in Chicago as his competition found out his weaknesses. Watch out Juan, the vultures are coming for you.

O.K. guys, I did some recon so we can connect the dots.
The new Vikings stadium is the U.S. Bank Stadium
(5th largest bank in U.S.) and it will host the NFL's
marquee event in February 2018 (translation for all you
soccer fans: Super Bowl for 2017 season).
Monterrey got booted because someone actually took the
time to do a background check. Can you imagine that?
The Vikings and the NFL and U.S. Bank have a lot of $$$$
riding on this thing. So, enjoy the Monterrey boys at the
Marathon because you won't see them this coming Feburary
on TV. Hope everything goes well in Chicago on Sunday.
Stay safe and sound.

Monterrey, HA!!! A few years back I was asked to go to a Bears game. We took the Metra electric line there. I, of course, was carrying my Glock 23, a spare mag and a knife, like I do everywhere I go. So we get there and I see that those clowns are wanding people. I hadn't been to a game in 30 years so I didn't know abut the no-weapons BS. So I take the gun and put it high up in my coat sleeve under my arm and did the same with the mag. I palmed my knife. Idiot wanding me missed EVERYTHING! I went straight to the washroom and geared back up in a stall. Scary how inept they are. Good thing I was one of the good guys.

I'd have to say that I was very disappointed today at the race. Where most people saw no police presence on the corner of Jackson and Halsted, MY trained eye saw 10 of those 'clear' officers congregating on the corner...with their clear hats hanging on their clear guns

CORRECTION. They don’t need to contribute to the right politician. One of the owners is the younger brother of the
most senior & most powerful Hispanic Alderman in Chicago. He was a member of the CFD who had to suddenly retire
because of his contract with the city. And if I am not mistaken, they were operating without the proper license for a while
too.
IMO they should of lost their contract instantly for not being properly qualified to bid on the contract....ijs

We are in very bad shape. Many many will die. Won't surprise me if it will be because of SWAT's incompetency. SWAT has missed subjects several times. Don't let them fool you about it only happened once. As far as they felt bad? Then why did you contact the media whining like little bitches, about taking a day as punishment?
Join SWAT? The tryouts are rigged. Friends of the Swat Sgt and Swat Trainers are taken care of even though they should have failed. Secret lists passed around. Violations ignored. Scoring changed. Graded videos disappearing. Saw it with my own eyes. We passed up good quality candidates so a certain training SGT could bring on his Army and work out buddies. The ones that were passed were having accidental discharges and shooting no shoots. This caused a huge divide between the team that saw how unfair it was. It is now us vs the cheaters on the team. That's the truth.
------------------------------------------------
Wish it wasn't true, but it is. ML and the new training staff completely destroyed swat. I don't trust these new guys. They are terrible! They don't belong here! Lamb you better start taking control, or you will answer the Superintendent for a vote of no confidence. We are not kidding. The majority of the team is sick of this BS. You and a couple of the other Sgts need to leave. Try to pretend you are in charge. And you better get the team explosive breaching. It's about time you and overtime johnny earn your pay. We go through the door while your ass is in the TOC.
