What's in a Name?

  • The union representing Chicago aviation police officers is accusing the city of violating its contract — and jeopardizing the traveling public’s safety — by stripping the word “police” from the force’s uniforms and vehicles in response to the dragging of Dr. David Dao off a United Express flight at O’Hare Airport.

    The rebranding of the Department of Aviation police department began in full force last week, with its SUVs being repainted so they say “security” instead of “police.” In January, aviation Commissioner Ginger Evans ordered the department to remove the word “police” from its uniforms — but the order was never enforced.
We suppose this has more to do with the possible disbandment or re-structuring of the DOA and the resultant Federal dollars and how they're spent / accounted for.

That dr was an idiot, running back into the plane and fussing, so was that woman with the kids crying over her stroller. Now there's a guy who decides to get up and go to the bathroom when the plane was on the tarmac ready to take off......the airline industry is getting their share of "it's all about me" and people who refuse to listen to authority and follow the rules. Shit we as the police put up with every day in every district.

The way things are going pretty soon our squad vehicles will have security on the side of our vehicles also. The girl in charge of the airports makes well over $300,000 per year and this is the same girl that hired the man Jeffrey who is in charge of the department of Aviation Police the same man who is involved in some sort of scandal over at the Illinois tollway authority who is obviously asked to leave takes a pay cut I walk to $50,000 a year all Ginger did was recycle someone that should've been terminated and yet she is allowing this man to decide the fate of working police officers in the Department of aviation Police Department. Morn more you can see clearly that the people that are hired in the big positions at the airports have no clue how to manage anything typical political clout drives their motivation very pathetic though how they can destroy people's lives.

They don't know the difference between a civil matter and a criminal matter, therefore they shouldn't be the police. They walked on that plane knowing that United overbooked it, and they allowed themselves to be put in the middle of the situation. Anytime you are willing to drag someone from a paid seat after hearing him scream, holler and after seeing blood; you should be fired. They passenger posed no threat to anyone. They did United's dirty work and now they are paying for it with their jobs. This could have been handled another way.

United CEO Oscar Munoz Blames David Dao Incident on ‘System Failure
That is the headline on NBC news;
http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/united-ceo-oscar-munoz-blames-david-dao-incident-system-failure-n751661

Then Oscar says this;
"Do I believe what the law enforcement folks did was wrong? Yeah," he added.

Again let's play the police make sure they get in the story. So what is going to happen next time they need the police for an incident on their aircraft? What is the response policy with the airlines finally be required to sign complaints for everything they asked The police to do at the airport? Police are constantly summoned to the gate area for many types of calls the airlines one people throwing out of the airports and police do that would jeopardize yourselves ladies and gentlemen of the Chicago Police Department with this policy we are opening ourselves up for similar litigation where we will lose the bosses really don't care arrest on signed complaints by airline employees stop letting them put you in a trick bag. We are not bouncers for the Airlines I know it's a great place to work but if you're sitting in court and they go after you civilly and you lose what you have is the city which their hands of you it's your own fault.

Rham and Ginger are both rabidly anti-police.
If you look into the documents from the TSA, the aviation guys must have "POWERS OF ARREST"
it can take several forms, special police, public safety or just plain police.
The fact is, since they can't get their act straight due to political interference, the city and airports has lost several million dollars in grants and equipment.
Oh, and lets not forget how much we have lost due to the same problems, maybe tens of millions of dollars since Rham became mayor.

It looks like the city set up this unusual aviation police department just to get federal money. It is also a nice paying patronage job for the connected. I think it is time to disband the unit and increase Chicago Police presence at the airports. Then hire a private security firm, which of course will be connected to the political class.

As short handed as CPD is they help, they assist on many disturbance calls, yes working at Midway they help us. We are stretched thin everywhere and having them helps, they respond quickly to help, no they don't make arrests CPD does that is true many of these are military and many work in the burbs part time in other departments to help supplement their income that is some truth to this equation! Yes and I am cpd and appreciate them coming and backing us up, if they were not on that call with doctor that refused to obey the law cpd would of been in the same basket. Don't think your better than those coppers many incidents happen at the airports you would be amazed at things the airlines do to use us as bouncers. The only reason this was an issue is because this so called doctor knew exactly how to be the star of the youtube video and run back and display himself as he blames the police!

Look at doctors history would you use him as your doctor? Watching as all the avaition vehicles are be expidited and pulled into AMC (vehicle repiar building) and they are removing the "police" from all their vehicles and replacing with security! Does ginger evans ($300,000 a year girl) really think that is the solution? Then she hired that former tollway boss who is obviously clouted in a major way who was dumped due to his escapades to run the police at the airports! Who vetted him? the 3 stooges was the interview like this ginger:

Concessions will be made and the DOA will stay put. Its not the 200 officers that they care about, it's the multitude of mindless political hacks DOA employs. It's just a matter of time before Ohare goes up for grabs and the shortage of effective security, real armed police, will again expose the lack of leadership at every level there. No surprise, it's a Chicago Value n

You can catch him and other broken down retired bosses on Sundays at noon at Bo's bar on Northwest Hwy just south of Bryn Mawr. Stop by and listen to their stories about how Commander Otis who was put in charge of an evacuation plan the city wanted him to put together. They fired mumbles Jeff Redding "he gone"!

http://www.nbcchicago.com/blogs/ward-room/OHare-Midway-Security-Chief-to-be-Fired-Source-420656903.html

Jeff Redding, who oversees security at both O’Hare and Midway airports, was fired Thursday, the Chicago Department of Aviation announced.
"Effective today, Jeffrey Redding has been terminated from his duties at the Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA)," the department said in a statement. "Aviation Security Assistant Commissioner Kevin Zator will oversee safety and security operations for the CDA in the interim."
Redding took the job last year, claiming he had lost his job at the Illinois Tollway in a house cleaning with newly elected Gov. Bruce Rauner. He failed to fully disclose he actually had been fired at the tollway. The Chicago Tribune reported last week Redding was fired after a female toll collector accused him of seeking sex and money in exchange for work related favors.
Redding had a $19 million budget and nearly 300 employees. These are the same employees who took part in the United Airlines incident that has gone viral--four aviation officers have been suspended after dragging D.r David Dao off an airplane

(More questions will ginger be fired next for the hiring of this goof? Where's Jeffrey turning up next? )

Rahm needs tread carefully if he thinks it's a good idea to simply baptize DOA security officer and pass them off as CPD. Given that they didn't complete a full 6 months in the CPD academy, work 3 periods with an FTO, or work an 18 month probation as a PPO, they would be huge liability.
