Stupid still chases cars on a daily basis and is overly proactive. Stupid will discover soon enough this isn't your daddy's police department.
Hopefully 015 and 011 gets the new order. Too many 'Team Awesome,' tactical tools that think that every car that speeds off on them, for a traffic violation, is being driven by Wesley Snipes from the movie 'New Jack City.' In reality, it is usually Fred Sanford, Lamont, and Grady fleeing because they don't want to get their ride impounded for being high on weed.
If only the morons still chasing would finally figure this out.

from the outside looking in it appears to me that a basic policy of not chasing with some very limited exceptions is most appropriate. I know it does not sit well with cops, but there is no reason to expose the population to additional danger over what are mostly minor traffic violations.
I've always aspired to become a semi-professional race car/auto cross driver. Why not use the departments vehicles for my skills to be honed versus my daily driver....smash up derby!

...and is not a gang banger or burglar and will not hit on the grandma, mother-in-law, wife and/or daughter? In other words, a decent, upstanding individual. If they exists, I, too, am interested in a home security camera system.

The U-Spy Store, 2406 Fullerton. I had IR cameras installed inside the house and outside with a DVR and the ability to watch cameras on my smart phone. They work in total darkness. Good installation and good customer service.

Here is a thought, don't chase people for no good reason. (No, "because they ran" isn't a good reason) This is the Freddy Gray Lesson. If ya had a QUALITY reason to go after them in the first place, to pull them over in the first place, then yes, chase them and catch them! Eye contact and them going the other direction is not a reason to do violence upon Citizen and it is not a reason to put other innocent people in danger. Get that through your heads, PLEASE! See, people should not run but it really is true sometimes that police shouldn't chase - because ya really shouldn't be bothering folks int he first place. What a shocker, people dipping out is their way of say "no" to a "consensual contact" attempt.
Should someone flee from a stop over a tail light out? No, but at the same time, folks are sick and tired of all the OTHER stuff that has been done in the name of a Terry Stop ASIDE from the warning or the ticket for the defective light. Enough of that crap guys - seriously. There are robbers rapists and malicious murderers out there for you to be dealing with. SO when ya see a light out, grab the tags and send a ticket in the mail, first a warning, with a response card people can send in to say it is repaired. Doesn't that seem like a better solution?
Here is a thought, spend yer time serving WARRANTS already outstanding! Then, a CHASE is WORTH IT because yall already KNOW who it is running AND WHY! The best part - nobody can whine at ya about why yer chasing!

It's a shame, but somebody speeding off on me or running away, usually results in me laughing at said individual, and then going to take a personal. If you haven't gotten that message yet by now on this job, then you're beyond help.

Those days are gone in chicago. Out here in Arizona, they have things like helicopters in the sky all the time. Limit the chases drastically, even small cities like Mesa have helicopters. A couple of days ago, some clown car jacked a person at gunpoint, he was a homicide suspect and the chase went on for 30 minutes or so according to the news. It ended when an undercover suv rams the suspect and he proceeds to draw a gun, they kill him. Different out here.

Nope on the camera installer. However, there are absolutely none better than the 1080p starlite cameras from discount security cameras. Check the website. Shows a good comparison to others. Have them at my place, and the nightvision view looks like its the middle of the daytime.
I feel bad for the hardworking cops trying to do the right thing. Criminals laugh and feel invincible when the idiots are allowed to flee and the cycle just repeats again and again.

011 caught him after a fifteen block, one rock in a sock foot chase. Unfortunatly, he ditched the rock before they caught him. They did an ISR, which only took them a couple of hours to do.
When will Chicago coppers finally learn the outcome is not worth the agony if someone is injured or someone is killed due to chasing some thugs let it go not worth hurting innocent people times of changed policing is changed the police department is giving direct orders not to chase it is simple as that unless you're stupid or totally and say thanks first do not chase simple as that. If you're going to will call balls out that call had better be a 10 one a police officer calling for help off duty police officers family calling for help other than that I'll be the launch the ghetto nonsense has been going on for hundreds of years let it go the law of the jungle will prevail the strongest animal wins it is simple as that you don't need a college education to figure this out.

Geez, when did we start hiring guys such as you. If if I felt compelled to install security cameras around my house I wouldn't be looking for a good installer; I'd be looking for a good realtor. Hmmm, you must live in 019, or Edgebrook.

Alert Protective Services installed my house alarm a few years ago, and I'm very happy with their service. I was a little worried about the installation. The crew that came to the house to install were very professional, (not thugs). They install cameras too. They like the police. Talk to Tony.

1. You can't chase solely for warrants. You're wrong.
2. You haven't arrested anyone for murder or rape. Ever.
3. You don't know how many good arrests have been made as a result of proper probable cause based traffic stops. Often.
4. If you write a ticket as a p.o. you can mail it. But you also must complete additional paperwork. You figure out what that is. Doing said paperwork will keep you from getting killers and rapists. Address on ID or vehicle tag may not be current.
5. Police officer making a traffic stop is not a "consensual contact". If one is in violation of the law it is a duty of a police officer to address that violation and enforce the law. By law, one in violation does not get to determine the outcome of the contact or even simply avoid it. ILCS.
6. People don't get to "dip out" because they feel as if the police are bothering folks. It's called compliance. It's the law.
7. Disregarding/Violating 2 traffic control devices and or speeding more than 20mph above the posted speed limit with a lit up police car behind it makes it a felony in the state of Illinois. So now the "took off" becomes "felony took off".
Verify your info before you post something. Your stupidity may result in another's death. For example, Michael brown. Maybe big mike thought he was being bothered as he didn't charge at a cop, didn't beat a cop, didn't enter a cop's car, and didn't grab a cop's gun. Maybe big mike could be alive today to steal cigarillos had he just complied. Eric garner, had he simply complied, he just may still be breathing today. You mentioned freddie gray. The actions of mr gray initiated police contact. Actions of mr gray in the transport vehicle may have sped up his demise as he had health issues as well. Here is a thought... Comply. We just got a set of netgear arlos, wireless, waterproof and rechargeable. Every camera has a magnet in the back, so they'll stick onto anything ferrous.

Where I grew up, beating up anyone that carries a gun means you're getting shot. But that just might be my communist eastern europe childhood talking; evidently things are different now.

In your case the phrase, " ignorance is bliss" really applies. Burglary is common in every community, city and burbs. And, every thief will tell you that they look for the easiest target . When you travel Europe, which has a property crime rate that equals the USA, you will see cameras, alarms and metal shutters on homes.
