Shorthanded?

Perhaps the off-duty coppers can start a Citizens Patrol?

Four cars up. No supervision. But don't worry - as soon as that worthless aldercreature gets his Section 8 building installed, we're sure that calls for service will go through the roof and maybe 016 will have eight whole cars up overnight.

Pay attention. The "investigative reporters" will demean the lowly, the less political elite. No gusto to take on the legitimate frauds who push corrupt/f'd up policy. They won't push Rahm or Preckwinkle or Madigan. An article here and there will subside the critics, they think. People are watching.

I once heard a mush supervisor say that 016 doesn't need the same manpower as ghetto districts because the so-called nice districts "police themselves". While that may have been partially true at one time, it certainly isn't the case now. The savages have poisoned just about every part of this city. Eventually in places like 016, it will be up to the good people to do what they have to do given the disparaging shortage of police officers. It's not like the criminal justice system helps anyways, it is designed to protect criminals. Rights and special treatment for criminals; more taxes, no representation, and victimization for the good people. The sleeping giant needs a reawakening.

Shorthanded on the Chicago Police Department but yesterday the mayor had a big news event he was touting the hiring graduation of 381 police officers from McCormick Place the mayor said they had to use that facility because they had so many graduates they need all the space but what he did not inform the pet media media is that we're only 80 patrolman 301 where promoted sergeants and detectives talk about a liar and he did not say anything about the hundreds of Chicago police officers returning the year by the way look over here $100 million in more found money to build a brand-new facility to make CTA rail cars;

http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2017/03/16/cta-to-break-ground-on-new-100-million-rail-car-factory/

The mayor must have billions store and T I F funds no extra money for police even though the retiring quitting United States attorney from Chicagoland said the mayor was policing on the cheap which obviously caused all the bloodshed murder and mayhem. Hey Kenny has the mayor made the payment to our beleaguered pension fund which is only at 25% funding ? If not get on the phone turn off the phone line find out what's going on it is your job is also your job to work on illuminating that gold braid bill that is taken so much many millions from the pension fund that we cannot afford the fire department eliminated the gold braid bill now it is for you to step up and do the same if you cannot do this you Kenny and all the rest of the board need to resign.

Criminal mismanagement. So many officers not working the street, and they can't scrape up two beat cars. No one can be bothered to work a beat car anymore.

Meanwhile, the ghetto districts are flush with officers. Serving the community that hates them and doesn't want them but can't help continuing to call them.

Not to mention how a staffing level this low is a safety issue. At what point is this grievable or grounds for a lawsuit? When there's only two officers working entire district on a shift?

This picture doesn't seem right. Since last November,016-1st watch has had all beat cars manned, one wagon working, and at least one traffic car up. And 4 out of the 7 nights in the week, 1 or 2 rapids have been up. This maybe a picture from last year or this picture was taken after 0530 (which does not explain the Tac team still on the board).

016-1st Watch has manpower and that manpower responds to many calls for service through out their tour.

The Commander and Captain are good to the troops and 7 out of the 8 Lts are good people to work for.

Of Course, 016-ALL WATCHES, should have more manpower(home front, tax base, etc)

Not surprised the highly taxed areas with the cowardly weak alderman get less police services! Then we have over here in the bag for Angelo?:

For the FOP Election I am endorsing Dean Angelo’s entire ticket.
http://www.retiredchicagopoliceassoc.com/NewsLetters/newsletter_rcpa_february2017.pdf

Interesting news letter Dean was busy attracting votes

Retirees Whose Membership Has
Elapsed or Expired Can Return to the FOP
for complying with this critical legislation and now with
the help of the Illinois Legislature (SB777) the 90% can
has again been kicked down the road to year 2055. And
again, our pension fund will be selling important assets
because of this.
To be fair, lets also put some blame on our city council
members and certainly the finance committee and its
Chair, Alderman Burke, as none of them stepped up for
us, the ones that would be the first responders to their
homes or for their families in an emergency or possibly
life threatening crisis. And finally without throwing a
chair at Rahm to keep his attention, I would tell him
about my 32 years of service to this city. There were
broken bones, knocked out teeth, stabbed with a syringe,
pushed off the back of a moving truck, knocked off a
roof into a garbage can, several shootings, a nut job that
bit me and ripped skin off my arm with his teeth, locked
in a building with gas cans hanging from a ceiling and
exploding into fire, oh ya, I almost forgot the gunshot
wound to my right
The RETIREE COMMITTEE sent a recommendation to
President Angelo to allow retirees whose membership
has expired or elapsed and were not allowed bac in the
FOP under a “previous administration”. Dean Angelo
and his Board of Trustees sent this to the Board and it
was UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED. What this means is
that a former member can come back into the FOP for
only the current year’s dues. I personally want to let you
know that it was Dean and his Trustees that brought this
to the table. If you know of any retiree who would like
to return to the FOP, kindly have them call Doreen at the
FOP office, 312-773-7776. This is HUGE!

Theory - The west and south sides are staffed to the gills and have every unit imaginable working in their district. There is plenty of section 8 housing in these districts. Maybe it's an end around ploy to get more officers in the district by raising the crime rate. Since people seem to think that there is no need for officers because it is a "slow" district, if we raise the crime rate to levels of a "fast" district we can get more officers. Talking about down cars...Here on 3rd watch in 009, we are lucky if we barely have POs working to man the beat cars. We have no rapids. One of the beat car is a wagon. Your back up is miles away if you need one. We are lucky if we have one 06 car up. They put all the major manpower on 1st watch. For the size of the district, the manpower is a big joke. 009 had the 3rd highest homicide rate, if I am not mistaken. This summer is gonna be a slaughter house and brass will just keep throwing POs under the bus for not violating civil rights.

Shorthanded?! That ain't nutin kid.

Area 2 (south) has 6, and I repeat six, Detectives assigned to midnights along with 0 (zero) Sgts. That is the entire watch, not just who's working. Six people total.

On a good night "we" have three Detectives maximum, working.

What the hell is going on out there?!

Check it, if you don't believe me.

What have we become?

****

don't worry that's all about to change in 8 days. 14 new detectives are going to midnights. If you want to complain about area south you are gonna have a huge complaint in January of 2018 when the 10 hour days are gone. Area west is officially happening and all 4 areas are now going to be on the same schedule within the detective division. Area two gets a lot of shootings but of the 3 areas it gets the least amount of jobs... the powers that be don't feel that there needs to be a carrot for the detectives to chase anymore to get them south... they are about to have hundreds of young detectives that they can force to go there thus no longer needing the 10 hour day. If you don't believe me then go have a chat with Winter Jackson who is the head of HR for the Department. Also before everyone says it cant be taken away its in the contract you are wrong.... Its not in the contract, the agreement is called a Memorandum of Understanding. an MOU can be broken simply by the city saying we are changing things. Its not in good faith but it cant be arbitrated, even if it is arbitrated the schedule cant be brought back by the arbitrator, just some type of compensatory award and a slap on the wrist for the city. Its an MOU, not a binding contract.

Thanks for your input Bill Dougherty but remember it was the retirees who elected you trustee. The actives still remember how you fucked them by not sending the letter.

Who is this Dan Shields possibly? If Bill fucked up by not sending in the letter than why in the world would Mike Shields state in the newsletter that it was his responsibility to send in the letter and in hindsight he should have sent the letter in on time i? Why did Mike Shields promise the membership at the General meeting that he would send the letter by the weekend 4 days before the letter was due? Why did Mike Shields ask if the postage meter could be turned back to reflect the letter was sent in on time? Why did Mike Shields fire his personal secretary who begged him every day to sign the letter she prepared for him in order to meet the deadline? Keep up your false narrative and fake news , loser.
