It's for Safety - Not Money

  • Some red light cameras in Chicago are coming down—but they’re also going up in new areas after an independent study found they demonstrate “significant safety benefits,” the city announced Monday.

The study, conducted by the Northwestern University Transportation Center, suggested the city continue the program after after it highlighted benefits such as a 19 percent reduction in serious crashes and 10 percent reduction in injury-producing crashes at intersections where cameras were present. The city says, per the study’s recommendation, it will immediately extend the grace period in which drivers are not ticketed when passing through a light that has just turned read to 0.3 seconds—up from 0.1 seconds.
This "Northwestern" place - the same establishment with the disgraced journalism program?

So where are these cameras that are coming down?
  • 95th Street and Stony Island Avenue (two cameras)
Western Avenue and 71st Street (two cameras)
Western Avenue and Pershing Road (two cameras)
Grand Avenue and Oak Park Avenue (two cameras)
Irving Park Road and Kedzie Avenue (two cameras)
Peterson Avenue and Pulaski Road (two cameras)
And going up?
  • Wacker Drive and Lake Street (two cameras)
Michigan Avenue and Jackson Boulevard (two cameras)
Dearborn Avenue and Grand Avenue (two cameras)
Central Avenue, Foster Avenue, Northwest Highway and Milwaukee Avenue (two cameras)
Pershing Road and Martin Luther King Drive (two cameras)
Anyone have the dollar amount generated by the cameras coming down? And the traffic volume numbers for the intersections? And the per capita income by zip code where the cameras are going up, which has to be taken into consideration since the bribery scandals have tainted any hint of legitimacy that camera "enforcement" might have.

If the cameras were for safety, then why doesn't every railroad crossing have a pair? Heck, the railroads would probably pay to have them installed!

I love how they always post the percentage changes when it comes to safety but we never see the raw numbers. How many crashes prior to the cameras, 100 with a 10% drop at an individual corner. I know it's all for revenue, I'd just like to see how many fewer cars are destroyed every year with Rahm's safety nets in place for our own protection.

Once drivers get wise to the fact that there are cameras at a certain intersection they watch themselves. Only reason the city moved these cameras is because they stopped producing revenue. $Money is King!

We've discussed this.

Drivers will modify their behavior.
As to the question on "Which cameras?", that's easy to answer, the ones that generate the LEAST amount of revenue. They'll be moved to a spot pre-determined long time ago.

Let's not forget all of the emails that were released yesterday concerning Mayor Rahmicide yesterday, those which exhibited private access to the Mayor who said he would never conduct city business on his own private email. Where is the guy who always posts on here about having a link to Jeff Sessions now? If you do have access to someone who has access to Sessions, it's high time you write to Mr. Sessions concerning our corrupt and disgusting Mayor and discuss all of the disgusting, immoral behaviors. A couple of months back, Rahm releases hand-picked emails from the trove of his personal email account. Now, after an FOIA, more come to light. Surely, there are more that are much more damning. But nothing will ever happen. Not in this city.

Now I really don't want to appear "Rachist", or as correctly spoken Racist, but the demographics clearly indicate that the new cameras are going up in areas where People of Color do not reside or frequent. While they are clearly being taken down in areas where People of Color reside and frequent. Apparently the City cannot collect from residents who do not give a shit. If you notice, there seems to be a shortage of those parking boxes on the West and South sides, but come up North and they are Everywhere, because People Not of Color pay. How have we allowed this City to degenerate to this level? Why do we keep electing people who are repulsed by working people? Shitcaga/Wilmette Values! Baby "G"

Little ahead of you already on the way as a matter of fact being looked into, why do you think that for example President Trump is traveling to different states even Indiana but refuses to come here? Prelude to something happening! Remember when President Trump talked about barry obama how he informed the Iraq people we were coming and when we came the terrorists they were all gone? AG Sessions and President trump will not telegraph their intentions just watch and see when an operation "firestorm" strikes here with the full force of the federal government all over the place it is coming, failure to plan is planning to fail! "law and order" on the way with a double serving of "follow the law!"

On topic many of the coppers know this most of the fire fighters license plates issued by jesse white are not firefighters nope, many are illegal invaders talked to a couple they said "Like these plates don't get stopped" these plates should be issued to firefighters only, not sure how many LE plates are issued to people not Le, but then again displaying anything on your vehicle LE related is not a good idea in this climate!

Lastly this "insignificant" blog is tagged by the AG office in Washington it is perused for information you don't think the dishonest media is the only people to use this vital resource to get their news! "the spirits of the air" travel everywhere, when the "spirits" influence the correct people the outcome will be a much safer city and help police do their jobs! God bless the police and God bless SCC thank you for always being there!!

The new camera locations are in Neighborhoods that can Pay the Fine on Time and will not go thru the Appeal Process.
This is discriminatory and not Fair to the working Middle Class.
More benefits are given to the south side Residents.
Downtown Cameras will hit the Pockets of those who have Higher a Paying Jobs and force the Working Public to use the CTA
Or Uber (9.5 fingers Brother's Stock will Go Up)

Again the Working Middle Class is saddled with this Fee.

When they complete that 8 story "project" across from 16, the new cameras at NW Hwy, Central, and Foster will be flashing like a night at the Disco. Not that any tickets will be paid mind you, but it is an interesting prospect none the less.

So in other words cameras coming down in minority communities where people don't pay the tickets any way, and going up in areas where working class people commute.

What they need is a license plate on all the bikes, so the hipster cyclists who constantly bitch about "cagers" but have no regard for rules of the road can start getting tickets. Maybe that will cover some of the cost of these asinine bike lanes. And lord knows that with the money they're saving by buying $2 PBR in a can because they're keeping it real, and with daddy's credit card safely at hand, they'll pay the tickets.

The Ecomonic Demographic is most favorable and likely to pay their bills in the new locations.
It's racist only when you target fleeing vehicles heading in southerly direction. Still, they don't ever pay.
Cameras will be pointed northerly and target subjects returning hastily from work, school, etc.
Drive slow and another Rahm Fail Tax will pop up, like $17 mo. garbage pickup coming next year.

I've learned to slow down for the speed cameras, due to having no other way to get where I need to go and to time the redlight cameras, either going thru an intersection or making a right turn on red.

Pay attention to the countdown number flashing.

And yeah the sensor is behind the white stop line. Check out the pavement cuts prior to the white stop line. If there are sensors cut into the pavement beyond the white stop line then the obvious fix is in for cash. I have not seen any cuts thus far.

There is still a redlight camera at Foster and Nagle. Haven't seen it go off for quite some time. Maybe the drivers have caught on and trained to not run the red.
