An Interesting Turn

  • Civil rights groups are concerned that the police will violate their rights during the Inauguration protests so they intend to record their behavior. Meanwhile, the ACLU is demanding that the police turn off their body worn cameras during the events.

D.C. Police say their policy is to only record when there is a police activity and they do not consider monitoring protests an activity.

“We are concerned what they will do with the data,” says Monica Hopkins-Maxwell of the District of Columbia ACLU.

Ironically, at the same time the ACLU demands that the police not record their activities, they have launched a new app called “Mobile Justice” that encourages others to record law enforcement.
In light of the potential for directed disruption (leftists), terrorism (local and international), and 'protests' that morph into something more sinister, we'd think the every camera in the nation ought to be turned on this Friday.

Sorry for the off topic post but I'm a little behind. Ya gotta love Crook County and the Prickwrinkle. This tax was supposed to be for peoples health *cough cough*. You know....for the children. It's called a sugary drink tax yet look what is included....yep diet pop. Now, I don't drink that chemical laden crap but how TF are you calling it a sugary drink tax and then including diet pop? The answer....it's just another Crook County money grab. These criminals are reaching into your pocket again. And if you don't believe me just read their comments below.....

The Cook County Board vote Thursday to approve a proposed penny-per-ounce tax on sugary drinks, including soft drinks, diet drinks and energy drinks. (WLS)

Cook County Board President Toni Prickwrinkle said the proposed tax will help fill in a budget gap. She's counting on the $75 million the tax would bring in annually to avoid cuts in public health and public safety.

"Without funding, we're going to have to lay off 800 additional people. We've already laid off 300 people. We've eliminated 295 positions. We just can't seem to cut cut cut," Cook County Commissioner Stanley Moore said.

"It also puts us on a stable financial footing for the next three fiscal years during which we will not have to approve any additional tax increases and allow us to double our investment in community-based anti-violence initiatives," Prickwrinkle said.

So like I said, more bullshit simply to take our money.
Keep voting Democrat

Take the police out of the south and west sides. The murder rate will be over 1,000 before the autumn. Talk about the streets running red with blood, the areas will be like Syria and Iraq.

The LEFT can't have its criminal activity recorded by the very camera system that it demands accountability of the police. The LEFT fortunately will not be able to stop the media - left and right - from filming the mayhem.

I should have invested in Halloween masks and bandanas.

Just this past weekend, the DOJ Civil Rights Unit chief Ms. Gupta was on CBS national news stating how CPD should accept the fact that video is everywhere capturing their activity and that body worn cameras will curtail abusive behavior. And she further stated that there is no evidence of diminished proactive policing due to the "Ferguson effect." Thank you, SCC, for posting the study which shows that there's tangible evidence of diminished police activity these last two years. Thank you for also being the only entity which shows that demands for recording police activity abruptly stops when the political activists take to the streets.
And let's not forget Special Ed's comments that agg. battery charges will not be approved unless there is video of the crime. Perhaps
Mr Yohnka of the Chicago ACLU has been talking to his D.C. colleague and they'll be demanding inactive cameras whenever they intend on promoting mayhem - and the media will trot out CPD's Red Squad from the 1960's as proof positive. Meanwhile England's Manchester Guardian will run another story on the secret torture facility at Homan Square.

Do as I say, not as I do? Can't have it both ways, crybabies. I read about some Pro-Trump biker group that intends to stand shoulder to shoulder and form a "wall of meat", in case the protesters try to disrupt things. I'd love to see some snowflakes get their asses beat my some big, burly bikers!!! And then I'd suppose the snowflakes would want the police to help them, too. Liberalism is a mental disorder!!!

Schedule a hearing - get it on the Docket. Of course those Dockets are full, so it'll take a month.

In the meantime, tell the ACLU they're gonna get their day in Court... Just take as long as possible to respond so that it's perhaps the same day as the Inauguration when you do respond, and then good luck trying to get a Federal Judge that day to issue an Emergency anything...

They want to play games? Return the favor, with a smile of course. We've got bigger things to worry about besides their nonsense.

Leave those F*CK@#G cameras on!!!

People SHOULD see any A$$hole who is disturbing the peace (or worse) on camera. ALL of this is evidence when they go to court for their court appearance.(AND - they SHOULD be arrested and charged, not let go)

Shutting off the cameras?? That's smacks of "selective enforcement".

With that logic, if you stop me for speeding, I should demand you turn off your camera, "so we can talk - Off the record."

With ALL the crap Chicago has gone through to insure "fair policing" by having each officer wear a camera, I find the ACLU's request totally insane and repulsive.

Better hope Trump reverses all this Bizarro World stuff.

And Sessions should set up a special task force for Chicago. The difference between his leadership and Loretta Lynch's will be refreshing.

Unfortunately, there are already reports that the administration caved and there is a directive that cameras remain off unless an arrest is to take place. This, of course, only opens the door for the defense attorneys to discredit police and attack their probable cause since they recorded the arrest but kept the cameras off to document what lead up to the arrest.

Perhaps there is an anti-Trump politically led incident planned for the inauguration and the Dems are already organizing their no camera cover-up.

Soooo, we need cameras to see if police are behaving badly (when very, very, very few are) but when we KNOW protestors are going to be behaving badly, we don't want any cameras to catch concrete evidence of that fact. Nope, no hypocrisy to see here folks.

Meanwhile, they'll cry that they need a tax increase to cover the losses from what they spent before they had it...
