No FTO's? No Problem!

They'll just stick them with a sergeant:
  • Effective Sunday, 23 October 2016 through Saturday, 05 November 2016, the members of Recruit Class 16 -- 02 [...] will be detailed to the listed Districts

The Probationary Police Officers (PPO) will be utilized in the following manner:

The week of 23 - 29 October 2016, the PPOs will be assigned to the district desk or lockup and monitored by District Station Supervisor.

The week of 30 October - 05 November 2016, the PPOs will be assigned to work with a field sergeant.
So did the Academy run out of stuff to teach the new kids? We guess so, otherwise they'd keep them there for a couple 40-hour classes of stuff.

In any case, talk about your pointless efforts. A sergeant's job is to supervise, and these kids are at least 6-to-8 years from any sort of supervisory position. A sergeant has five or ten or more cops to keep an eye on and, quite frankly, isn't about to start teaching a PPO something an FTO is just going to have to un-teach at some point. This is a babysitting job, plain and simple.

On the south side as a sergeant I usually have 16-20 people a night on my log. Makes supervising difficult usually just wait to be called to the scene.

You'd think that O'Neil would have this straight before screwing with the troops. Time to launch him out of the CPD,

A few times i have heard rumors from the Academy that the City was looking at just eliminating the FTO spot all together. Since no one wants to be one, why have it? Sergeants will do the FTO job. Remember, the City made Sgts do the Lt job, so why not FTO too?

So when does there 1st cycle begin? And the department wonders why "stuff hits the fans!" With the young officers. I'm disgusted.

You don't get the star but you get retiree I'd and iroc card. Just left with over 10 but under 20. You get the star only if you have min of 20 years.

Smart move.
Those sergeants already receive overtime to complete report everyday regardless of if they have actual paper work to fill out.

I feel sorry for new sergeants they are barely trained and the commanders treat them like dishrags.

I see a grievance if they have to fill out 1 piece of paper work.

Was that a question on the last Sgt's exam?????
Responsibilities of babysitting???
PPO's should class action sue the department for inadequate training.

Bring back the white hats and pick-up an extra "C" note on traffic stops.

They need more FTOs in 024. I have a feeling they only let top tier FTOs in that district.

True but some advice if your retiring you have 1 year after to get card, as you can carry up to 1 year after you retire the bigger problem is then when you need the paperwork signed and taken care of no one knows your name anymore! Best bet get it done 2 months before you retire they easy to renew yearly! But wait you can trust the police and city bosses correct?
