Gee, despite all the flak we took, that rumor seems to be rolling right along:
- The No. 2 official in the Chicago Police Department announced his retirement Tuesday to become police chief at Northeastern Illinois University as the department braces for more fallout from the Laquan McDonald scandal.
First Deputy Supt. John Escalante was chief of detectives in 2014 when a department investigation found Officer Jason Van Dyke was justified in fatally shooting Laquan McDonald 16 times.
Word is that a replacement has already been chosen by Special Ed:
The good news is he already has Ed's phone number.

Kind of a step down to become Chief of Security at a small college supervising physical security. Actually a iob like this at a college or hospital has very little to do with the experiences gained as an exempt officer in a big city police department. A career security professional would be much better suited for a low profile spot like this. Luckily for Senor Six, this is a public institution as opposed to the private sector with very disparate expectations.

The above comment might come true. Many of these progressives are calling for an elected civilian review board. If that happens I am sure some of these radical nitwits would run for the office. And, I am also sure that it won't be a city wide election. They surely will divide the city into zones to ensure minorities are elected.

right you are. But the police at NEIU are considered state law enforcement that comes with a pension after only a few years on the job.
