Hire 1,000

Remember those 1,000 cops Rahm promised? The "community" is remembering, too:
  • Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Wednesday unleashed a familiar emotional tirade in response to the shooting of a 6-year-old Englewood girl caught in the crossfire between rival gangs, but the mayor’s words rang hollow to the local alderman.

After three shootings this week in a gang-ridden South Side ward that includes Englewood and Back of the Yards, Ald. Ray Lopez (15th) is demanding that Emanuel finally make good on his 2011 campaign promise to hire 1,000 additional police officers.
And Lopez wants "reinforcements" for CPD:
  • In the meantime, Lopez wants Chicago Police officers now working in pairs for their own safety to get reinforcements from the Illinois National Guard, the Illinois State Police, the Cook County Sheriff’s office or all of the above.

“The police are now forced to be reactionary. They’re forced not to be pro-active and engaged. … We’re pulling them back because of the safety concerns we have for our officers. But that hurts our ability to bring stability to the neighborhoods,” Lopez said
Rahm sticks with his scripted stupidity:
  • “There is no sense by somebody behind that gun pulling a trigger that they are responsible. There are too many guns, too few values and not a sense of consequence to the actions you take…. The ability to have guns—and any type of type of gun. The ability to use `em without a sense of consequence. And a criminal justice system in which those who are using guns are repeatedly put back on the streets.”
So, guns, guns, no values, guns, guns and the courts. Got it.

And the ones he's working on? Well, he isn't hiring. He's paying lip service to values (which is a family problem, not a government problem). And he isn't backing the police or bringing political pressure on judges to make consequences stick. So, pretty much nothing.

Empty words no longer have an effect. When the democrats don't give you anything but blood on the streets, you have to vote for republicans. The communities most affected by the violence may surprise you. They are not conditioned to vote for the democrats, or the party of the Klan as it is historically known.

NO. Cops are being FETAL not because of safety concerns, the job is dangerous we all knew that coming in, but because their hands have been tied. Cops have been backed in a corner and forced to choose between being proactive thus (in this day and age) risking their livelihood and freedom and between staying FETAL thus staying free and employed. I say do the minimum and STAY FETAL

Man, Emmanuel just wears me out with his BS. How do the pols in this city sleep? Their kids are protected , go to good schools , have money to burn , take vacations to the south of France ( and freakin Cuba ) , wear the best clothes, eat the best food, drink expensive wine, drive nice cars. All we want is a chance to live in a safe environment . Hire more cops and let them do the job. They want to, but no one has their back. Protect us Rahm, Madigan, Durbin......Phonies!

Maybe then they won't close because of the "heat."

My time in gangs I asked the shooters...what would it take to really effect gun crimes. Time and time again I was told "Mandatory 5 year sentence. No day for day". They told me the only to really make them think twice using a gun was a max no bullshit 100% sentence. But in this county they have no fear of the courts. Not per me. Per them.

Reinforcements? Har Har....I though da community didn't need no racist Poleece. Isn't that what the latest protesters and BLM advocates where publicly announcing? To abolish the police. Celebrities have chimed in too on this defunding the police idea.

Meanwhile in a poetic twist of sorts... The last suntimes article featuring Kwame Raoul and our integrity minded fearless leader where they plead for a racial musical chairs shuffling of cops because that's the 'real problem' has an numbers graph that actually negates their whole argument. In their own article ! Lol. If you look at the numbers according to them. A hood district like 011 has a per capita of 144 residents per one officer. A northwest district like 016 has 797 residents per one officer. 016 is like 5 times bigger than 011. And, yet 016 has one third of the violent crime than 011 has. So..... Even though 011 has a shitload of cops running around and is much smaller than the tax burdened, few patrol policed 016. 011 has a shitload more crime. Make sense to you ? It must be not enough police or that theyre racist.... Yeah .... Don't start a conversation about the lack of conflict resolution skills in the community or how children are being raised with no responsibility or accountability. That's too controversial. It's much easier to blame police and their racist bully tactics.

Best line from IPRA:

IPRA ruled that there was an "abundance of evidence" that the officer was being beaten when he fired his gun, and he reasonably thought his life was in danger.
But IPRA's ruling suggested the officer might have avoided killing the man if he had first warned he was going to shoot.

LOL LOL LOL Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha

This coming from people that have NO CLUE what a police officer does.

New GO to state, you must yell to offender that is beating your ass, Time Out, I'm gonna shoot you now.

God I hope that officers atty makes a mockery of IPRA.

Unfortunately, I have a family member who is a loser and has spent time in prison. He has more cases pending. The way he talks he can do a year or so, no big deal. When they get caught and prosecuted and the state offers them 5 years, these losers feel like they have won when they get it bargained down to 2 or 3 years. The moral of this story is exactly what someone else posted: 5 years and not a day less for shooting someone or getting caught carrying a gun on the streets. I am sure it will help

Some of the minnows that the Academy are churning out will be devoured by the ghetto sharks.

Rahm hasn't a tad of worry, his salvation will come when Hillary is elected. He has the privilege.

All of the 50 elected jaw flapping sock monkeys have been and are still harping, but not a single one of them or any collective, has done anything.
Millions of dollars spent this year on Summer jobs programs, peace march campaigns and shootings and murders are still happening.
Hire 10,000 new officers and the same crimes will still occur.
All talk - no action.

Learn to become Fetal if you haven't already.
If you expect a change in Dept. attitude, show them you're fed up with all the bullshit and no respect.

Always wait for backup pay complete attention at all times:

Officer Safety

A July bulletin from the U.S. Department of Justice's National Gang Intelligence Center issued a nationwide law enforcement bulletin, suggesting the general anger towards police could be morphing into organized efforts to target uniformed and plain-clothes officers -- especially by street gangs.

"Gang-related threats and attacks on LEOs have been reported in multiple jurisdictions since the Dallas shootings, and suggest that individuals and gang members may be targeting LEOs for retaliatory violence. Gang members have also issued multiple threats of violence towards LEOs via social media following the Dallas shootings and the officer-involved shootings in Louisiana and Minnesota."

The bulletin cites the shooting deaths of black men by police in suburban St. Paul, Minnesota, and Baton Rouge, and references the deadly sniper attack on police in Dallas. Other highlights in the bulletin include:

In July, a high-ranking member of the Four Corner Hustlers street gang in Chicago expressed a serious desire to kill a federal law enforcement agent, reasoning that the murder of a federal agent would resonate louder than the death of a local police officer.

According to the FBI, United Blood Nation (UBN) leadership is encouraging violence against law enforcement, by promising elevated status to members who initiate violence against police. Some Black extremist groups are reportedly applauding the death of the five Dallas police officers and are encouraging gangs nationwide to unite and attack law enforcement, according to uncorroborated July 2016 open source reporting.

ABC News law enforcement contributor Steve Gomez, who worked gangs in South-Central Los Angeles first as an LAPD cop and then as an FBI agent, said the bulletin and the threats it details mark a return to the nightmare of the late 1980s and early 1990s. At that time, the only thing that unified Los Angeles' infamous street gangs was their hatred of law enforcement, and it was common for law enforcement to face sniper fire as they patrolled or responded to calls. The situation deteriorated dramatically, Gomez said, after the Rodney King verdict and 1992 riots. "If the movement to target and assassinate cops expands past lone wolves (as we have thus far seen in Dallas, Baton Rouge, and other cities), and mobilizes violent gang members nationwide," Gomez said, "the effect could be overwhelming."

In response to the killings of police officers in Dallas and Baton Rouge, many police departments around the nation ordered heightened security for police facilities and directed that cops patrol only in pairs. In Los Angeles, where police already patrol in pairs, Chief Charlie Beck on Sunday went even farther by ordering the specialty Metro Division to serve as on-site security for patrol cars responding to calls and directing the LAPD's force of helicopters to monitor black-and-whites and search for possible snipers.

This informational Lodge Blast is one more reason why our Members must perform their daily duties and assignments with a newfound level of caution and awareness, in order to safely address what appears to be an ever-growing amount of threats against our Police Officers.
Stay Safe and God Bless the Police.

In other news:
""Aldermen voted to drop the $30 fee applicants for the police and fire departments have had to pay to take entrance exams. Administration officials think removing the extra cost will prompt more minorities to take the tests, helping improve diversity on the forces""

I read the online applications before. If you had a hardship, you could show your SSI check or link card and get the fee waived. So, how exactly is this supposed to prompt more minorities to take the tests? The help was already there.

And why are the administration officials being racist by saying dropping the fee will prompt more minorities to take the tests?? That implies that minorities are poor, and non-minorities are rich. I know several minority coppers that own rental property, motorcycles, and high end cars, far from what I would call poor.
