Aldercreature Threatened (UPDATE)

(part of this post references a comment that was accidentally deleted yesterday)

The Department of Transportation affixed signs honoring a known gang banger the other day - Aldercreature Beale was pissed off:
  • Honorary street designations are a Chicago tradition mired in political controversy.

On Thursday, a new dustup was added to the pile.

Transportation Committee Chairman Anthony Beale (9th) angrily demanded that the Chicago Department of Transportation take down signs put up without authorization earlier this month to honor former gang member-turned-community activist Hal Baskin.

Beale had initially intended to hold the ordinance in committee during Thursday’s Transportation Committee meeting.

When he was told that the Chicago Department of Transportation had already renamed a healthy chunk of 65th Street as “Hal Baskin Street,” Beale let CDOT have it and demanded that the signs be taken down.

“The department is putting the cart before the horse. They’re operating outside the scope of their job. They need to wait until it has passed City Council before they start erecting these signs. The signs will come down until it is passed,” the chairman said.
Now, we have ZERO doubt that Beale's committee would have rubber stamped the signs honoring a "retired" gang banger. The political winds being what they are, the effort we assisted in denying Fred Hampton a street sign years ago would fall on dead ears today. The politicians are all about pandering to low-information, no-impulse-control criminal types spouting a false narrative. Baskin would have gotten his sign anyway even while belonging to a gang that has a body count rivaling many banana republics.

But the "process" was violated, so Beale was "disrespected" and it's surprising gunfire didn't erupt.

Now, according to a commentator, Beale is getting death threats and he's gone to...surprise!...the police for a case report, protection and resolution. If anyone has the RD number, we'll helpfully publish it so anyone can FOIA the report.

And no one will make the connection between a gang banger, an organization whose "power" derives from intimidation, and threats made to an aldercreature over a sign that is pretty much a waste of taxpayer money.

Gang banger's make their contributions to society also, and some of them are said to have a heart of gold.

Great!

They already spent the money for the signs and the installation.
Now they get to take them all down again!
Want to bet they trashed the old signs and will need new replacement old signs?
I am so glad the pension fund is fully funded!!!

Why does Baskin need police protection? As an elected official, he is a peace officer and authorized to carry a firearm.

Let him protect his own worthless ass.

And if he can't???...Oh well.

On the topic of naming streets for straight up assholes, I bring you the honorary street sign on Long Ave. named for former Prosser principal Kenneth Hunter.

https://twitter.com/gilbert36ward/status/644867897135923200

For many of you who don't know Hunter, he's connected with the Gulen Movement which just tried to overthrow the government in Turkey. And, he's more than connected as he was the executive producer of a film honoring cleric aka preacher Fethullah Gulen called "Love is a Verb" and he also made a catchy tune about the preacher entiled "Insha'Allah"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QjvRpmdfkDk

Here's more on Hunter and Gulen, especially his recruitment when he was a CPS principal:

http://web.archive.org/web/20141014233322/http://www.tbfurman.us/2014/10/going-gulen-in-chicago.html

Hunter is connected to Ald. Patrick O'Connor through his aldermanic aide (Timothy Czarnecki). Czarencki was park supervisor at Holstein Park in the 70's and 80's and was deeply connected to 32nd Ward Committeeman Dan Rostenkowski and former 32nd ward alderman Terry Gabinski. These days, Czarnecki is utilized for his law degree, concentrating in real estate manners where he helps fleece older Chicagoans out and helps to gentrify neighborhoods. And, until recently when he got voted out by TWO votes, Czarnecki (a Prosser alum) was on Prosser's LSC.

Czarnecki and Hunter became acquainted when Hunter was an assistant principal at Amundsen, a school in O'Connor's ward. Hunter as known for many late night drinking binges which found him in sleeping in his car with the clothes he wore the night before in Amundsen's teacher's parking lot. His alchohol problems led him to a stay near an AA facility in East St. Louis, IL for a 6-8 months. Then, BOOM!, he was named principal at Prosser.

Now, because of a lack of space, I'm going to link everyone to three stories about Hunter and the kind of behavior he let go on at Prosser. After reading these links, you'll see he's not entitled to honorary street sign either. Amazingly, Hunter still has backers as he did get 30.1% of the vote in his loss to Troy LaRaviere in the Chicago Principals Administrative Assn. (CPAA) election this past May, 2016.

OT: Regarding the racial make up of districts. WGN tv this morning ran the story. WGN not only reiterated the balance of officers, racially in districts, but also pointed out the percentage of white vs black officers department wide vs the population of the city.
It's all about taking jobs from one group and giving them to another group.
Qualifications be damed.
Let's use tax dillars the same way then.

Got any streets named after law abiding citizens? Police Officers? Firemen? Any other first responders?
Is there an Al Capone Avenue? Machine Gun Kelly Drive? The more SCC I read, the more I think my decision to never go back there is the right decision.
Stay safe Officers.

Always wondered why Beal is such
a jag-off toward The Police.

His daddy was a Policeman and a
well respected one from what the
spirits of the air have whispered.

Maybe Beal is acting an ass over
some unresolved teen rebellion
stuff where his old man probably
knocked his punk-ass down for
being unruly and disobedient.

Every piece of legislation Beal
proposed has been intentionally
harmful toward Policemen.

He needs to bone the fuck up,
be a man and get over it.

Well... There's always counseling
if "daddy issues" are bugging him
that badly.

Aldermen are stupid people.
They probably thought Baskin was the black cofounder of Baskin-Robbins (Skins & Bins in Atlanta)
.
Anyone remember Fred Hampton Day and the street sign dedication fiasco ?
With the current hostile climate against the police, I'm surprised the stupid caucus alderman haven't yet resurrected the Hampton issue again, I know they tried a few years ago.
The day will come when the stooges Booby Rush & Walter 'PPK' Burnett will get their honorary street memorials.

Leave them roam, unless they cause a problem, alderman your ignorance is really up to par coyotes attack small animals even small children if you let them alone the next call is that they attacked! Alderwhatever that's like letting thugs roam with loaded guns and bastardizing the police, oops sorry that is happening and you know that result correct? With all the problems we have you show another reason we could easily 25 or more alderman idiotic ideas such as this!

09:49 am - You're right, but AlderCreature Badge must be accompanied by proof that the AlderFool took the state mandated 40 hour firearms training. The legislature was going to revoke the conservator of the peace status for local elected lawmakers (also includes village trustees) after notorious AlderTramp Dorothy Tillman was waving her .38 snub at a raucous ward meeting.
Evidently, some downstate trustees act in a responsible manner and actually assist their local agencies, so the legislature amended the law to require training. They should have tossed in the exemption for cities over 500,000 inhabitants & that would have curbed our AlderCreatures from playing policeman.
The only Chicago Ald. that i would feel is qualified to carry is the pride of the 41st Ward, Tony Napolitano. Burke has city paid bodyguards - so he should take off his ankle holstered snub nose. As far as our former CPD IAD Sgt. - he seems to be more concerned with aligning himself with other #blm inspired aldermen than supporting CPD. Once a rat - always a rat!

These street signs should be reserved for Police, Fire and Military members killed in action. No exceptions. Oxford Ave in the 41st Ward recently named for PO Joe Cali, by Alderman Napolitano.
