Shooting - Humboldt Park

  • A Chicago police officer shot and seriously wounded a person who allegedly pointed a gun at him Sunday evening near the Puerto Rican festival at Humboldt Park.

The incident occurred around 9 p.m. in the 1600 block of North Washtenaw Avenue near the border of Logan Square and Humboldt Park neighborhoods, according to police.
Ah yes....a "festival"
  • Officers approached the male suspect, whose exact age was not immediately available, to investigate but he fled from the officers, Roy said.

The officers then saw that the suspect was carrying a handgun in his hand and ordered him to drop his weapon several times, police said.

The suspect went around the corner of North and Washtenaw. At that time, (he) turned toward the officers with a gun in his hand,” said Roy as he stood outside the crime scene Sunday evening. “An officer discharged his weapon at least once, wounding the offender.”

The suspect was hit in the lower extremities and dropped to the ground. An officer then administered emergency first aid and applied a tourniquet on the suspect.
And what happened after all of this?
  • A second suspect who was trying to get the officers off of the first suspect was also taken into custody, according to police.
Behavior like this is very.....concerning.

Good job by everyone though.

Irish, Puerto Rican, Italian, Gay, we are all special.... and have the "right" to get drink freely, piss like free men in the streets and hit anyone we want in the head with a bottle.

M/Fers are all free and easy
with the ongoing spate of obstruction,

getting in the m/fing way when
The Police are trying to do their jobs.

The usual screeching, howling,

And if Eddie knows what's good

Can't have your REAL boss hanging

Anyway...

We hope the discharging Office makes

Old timer used to tell his accounts of being detailed at Humbo-Park for the '66 Riot.
He told of hearing the drums beating, a silence, and then a stampeding mass began running down from over the hill.
The few police were overwhelmed, as usual.
There was an infamous Deputy announcing "Let them have their day".
Something a Georgas would say today.

Lack Of Basic Impulse Control Department --

So much of it today that it's hard to keep track...some character felt dissed at a south side restaurant, so stepped outside and shot the windows out, people inside screaming and ducking...

There was another one just like this a few days ago, two little girls taken to the hospital with cuts from the flying glass.

Only solution is that the "he all wrong but he my brother" set has got to stop. The police are not massacring black people. They insist upon doing it to each other -- while the Ja'Mals and Lemon Records point somewhere else and yell.

You characters will get plenty of "mobilization" and "life for a life" just tonight -- and it will all be black-on-black killing, suffering, misery for no progress and no gain.

Put the guns down and everybody will be able to talk. Until that day comes, it'll be business as usual on the block, in the emergency room, at the morgue. He-say-she-say teen girls woofin on F__ebook, with play-uncle on the CTA bus right now bringing a .38 from across town, introducing it into the situation to settle things.

Of course, the people who like all this, seek it out as a way of life, are not reachable.

It will be interesting to see if the media focus is on the 13 killed and other 45 wounded or will it be on the one person wounded by police. The news article included a comment on bystanders saying "they shot him for no reason." Will the officer have to be "stripped" of his duties while activists call for an investigation? The activists and media will, of course, be largely silent about the other 58 victims - doesn't fit the agenda. DMTBKA (Colin Flaherty)

The usual Articles Of Faith -- it must, it must, it MUST be so.

"One of the people in the group “was exhibiting behavior consistent with carrying a weapon,” said Chief of Detectives Eugene Roy.

“The suspect went around the corner of North and Washtenaw. At that time, (he) turned toward the officers with a gun in his hand,” said Roy as he stood outside the crime scene Sunday evening. “An officer discharged his weapon at least once, wounding the offender.”

"As Roy stood near the intersection of North and Talman avenues and spoke to the media about the incident, a group of people walking by yelled in Roy's direction, facing the two news cameras that were pointed at him. One of the people in group had a Puerto Rican flag draped around his body.

"They shot him for no reason," someone in the group yelled, interrupting Roy's statement..."

***Off TOPIC***

I think SCC should start posting the "Use of Force" module/ chart from CPD General orders every time a news outlet shows a video of an officer doing his job he was trained lawfully to do by the department, but the media paints the officer as the criminal.

It's sad the officer gets his name tarnished because of the media looking to stir things up, instead of saying, "look at this officer putting his life on the line in order to protect the community from this criminal who is actively resisting/ fighting/ etc".

Just like the video released today:

Now as the non-shooting officer because you put a tourniquet on and rendered medical attention, even though covered under Good Samaritan laws, are now party to the lawsuit. Dragged through the trial mud, all previous police actions regarding aid will be brought up. "Why did you, why didn't you?" BULLSHIT! Offices can only stop and question people if they have a reasonable articulable suspicion that they have committed or about to commit a crime in order to investigate the crime that they reasonably believe has just occurred or is about to occur. Not to stop someone if they are going down a public street. If this is the case and someone told them to do that they should call. The department of justice, you may contact the Civil Rights Division at (888) 736-5551 or (202) 514-3847. Because that is the crime that is occurring. The department of justice will wok with you and remove the bosses from society who are giving orders to violate people's civil rights. But you need to report them or they will come after you if you go along with it. Wake up people!

I think one riot tripped off when a woman was accidentally killed by the swinging rear of a hook-and-ladder rig pulling out of a very busy house, lights and siren. Tragic, but it was an accident. Jesus.

It started getting so bad that Dad did not come with us on vacation that summer -- we lived in an apartment over a grocery store, and had shopping bags of important stuff by the front door ready to go in case the building got lit up. We didn't know what was going to happen, if this was going to spread. Dad put a sill cock in the cold water line in the bathroom so we would have at least had a garden hose in there, for what good it might have done. He also bought a gun, and stayed home to watch things while we got on the train to go see Babci and Dzadju. Our family trip broken up because of this s__t.

...and on the hot, humid morning of July 15, 1966 we were sitting in our Pullman compartment at La Salle Street Station, waiting for the conductor to come along and take our tickets, reading the newspaper about the eight student nurses killed by Richard Speck the night before. Everyone was in shock. One of those things, you always remember where you were when it happened.

Nice memories, huh? Also '68, when it did get closer -- remember looking south towards 63rd Street and it was like Hiroshima over there, a huge, terrifying pall of black smoke.

This was "privilege" for poor working people. The city has never really recovered from the riots and the destruction of the manufacturing base; still the vacant lots today in many areas. I don't much care for the "new normal."

The stolen liquor all got drunk up half a century ago, you busted the looted color TV when you dropped it trying to run, and the pants you grabbed out of the smashed window didn't fit anyway.

So do we have "social justice" yet?

Elijah Muhammad used to live like this. Carloads of huge, shaven-headed FOI in business suits parked up and down the block, jumping out on school kids with book bags trying to walk by.

"Hey SSC you might get a giggle out of this one ... It seems a Chicago Sun times reporter tried to buy a AR-15 ( reporters name is Steinberg ) guy paid for it ... Masons called him back refused sale as he is a drunk and beats women ... He's pissed"

Lautenberg bit him in the a__, huh? At some time, he probably wrote a column supporting the idea. That is funny.

New York Daily News reporter just took his preconceived notions to a gun store/range and terrified himself with an AR, as he had planned to. Says he's got PTSD now.

Seven-year-old girl did OK with one...

This is an old stunt. Back when they were agitating to stop the sale of DEWATs, some reporter ordered one, a legally welded-up, plugged Tommy gun, in his poodle's name. Was going to get a big story out of it. A detective showed up instead to talk to him...

Um... What are the legal ramifications if the tourniquet was not applied to the extremity properly? Or better yet, not using a tourniquet on the offender?

Interesting question...
Civilians can take refuge as
a "Good Samaritan..."

First Responders because they're
"held to a higher standard"
(Insert "Bullshit" hand sign here)
stand a good chance of being hung
on the horns of a law suit as many
municipalities are rapidly back-peddling
from indemnification even under the color
of trying to do the right thing in treating an
injury or some similar such...

What War Against The Police has wrought...

Enjoy.

King Rahm Emanuel runs the Chicago Police Department. Eddie Johnson is the mayor's PUPPET.

"The department’s Law Enforcement Medical and Rescue training began in 2012 after Officer Del Pearson was shot in the chest. Fellow officers rushed Pearson to a hospital, where he survived despite heavy blood loss.

"More than 2,200 police officers and 1,000 firefighters have received the training, Guglielmi said. The officers spend their own money to buy their first-aid kits, he said."

So what of the officers who have not been trained?

...and is the kit mandatory to be purchased and carried? City has money for fences and paths and bumps and trails, even "bike parks" no one will use and "art" on the Red Line and whole basketball stadiums for private concerns with losing teams, but not for a load of these?

Here's the important part of the order for you, rookie:

"In situations involving life threatening injuries to one or more members of the public that resulted directly from an action or intentional omission of a Department member who was on-duty or otherwise acting within the scope of his or her employment or duty, the:

1.involved member(s) will:

a.request medical attention for the injured, and also offer immediate medical aid commensurate with their training, experience, and available equipment."

You're only able to carry the tourniquet if you took the LEMART training, which means you have the "training, experience, and available equipment" to "offer immediate medical aid." So, you shoot someone and decide you don't want to use your tourniquet because you paid for it, you're violating the order, failing to provide aid when you've been trained and have the equipment, and the order is the least of your worries. If shithead dies, even if you were justified in shooting him, you've now contributed to his death through your inaction that violated the order. If he lives, maybe your failure to provide aid worsened his situation, so now you're to blame for any medical issues he has related to the shooting. Enjoy the lawsuits. Enjoy being unemployed for purposely violating an order and endangering a life. You are a complete fucking moron. Please read the orders and try your best to understand them before spouting off on here with your "let me show you how it's done rookies" bullshit. You're going to get yourself and anyone dumb enough to listen to you in the deepest of shit.
