Police Board Meeting

  • Thursday night's Chicago Police Board meeting was a contentious one as the audience expressed its outrage at the video of O'Neal being stomped.

During Thursday night's meeting, which was attended by about 100 people, some people in the crowd swore and badgered at officers, most of whom were standing calmly as they protected police board members and Chicago Police Supt. Eddie Johnson.

But the meeting intensified when a few attendees got into shoving matches with officers.

Activist Jedidiah Brown was detained after he clashed with several officers. The officers had to restrain Brown, bringing him to the ground before escorting him out of the meeting room.

The pushing and shoving between the attendees and police continued until attendees were quickly escorted out of the building's South Michigan Avenue exit.

About a dozen officers then stood in a line next to one another to prevent people from returning to the building.

"Kick me in the head!" one attendee shouted to the officers.
It's kind of amazing the types of "heroes" the community is embracing - a convicted felon and dope dealer who decides he doesn't have to follow the laws of civilized society - and he's the latest poster boy of the community.

Just imagine the fun when these types are at the civilian "review board" conducting their "investigation" and demanding officers appear to give statements.

We're going to request, once again, a list of rules, ordinances, and laws that certain groups aren't required to follow, just to make it easier on the police and give the "community" the police force they obviously desire.

Not surprising when you consider the sort of indoctrination and brainwashing the community has undergone the past couple of generations.

As outrageous as making felons heroes by the 'community' is what is even more shocking is the department and city giving in to the 'community' demands. Down is up, up is down, wrong is right and right is wrong. God save us, because the department and city don't seem to have the slightest inclination to do so.

Please tell me these meetings are video taped?

The FOP should post the video if it does.
Same thing with the "best!" of any Police Body Cams.

Show what the CPD has to deal with everyday.
There is a massive market for this.
Look at COPS!, Most Shocking Police Videos, Alaska Troopers.
Massive audience, massive popularity.
And it is a very subversive way to get the truth out, despite the Chicago Media.

Too easy to blame the cops, the city has deep pockets and will settle no matter what. Nasty lawyers lick their lips at these cases but if you get unjustly fired from your job no one will take your case. I see the lawyers view they are trying to make a living. But now chaos has been created. On one hand you have bangers, felons and drug dealers getting sympathy and on the other the bad police who lie on reports. Both points are made and are clear. The cops want to go home and they have a split second to choose. The bangers and felons made a choice to spread their poison and should suffer but for whatever reason they are more popular than kids who attend school and hard working men and women.

First, I find it ironic that President of the Police Board, was the head of O.P.S. when many alleged incidents of police brutality occurred. She wants to reform the system. Maybe the system does need reform. However, if the allegations during her term at O.P.S. were so egregious, then why did O.P.S. not sustain the charges against the officers involved? The simple answer is that O.P.S. did not have evidence to sustain most of the charges based on the abundance of evidence. Ms. Lightfoot has to take responsibility for not responding, if the allegations had merit during her tenure O.P.S. may have been Sustained. She is partially responsible if allegations were merited. Further, the Police Board meeting was disrupted by members of the community, and the police had to protect members of the Police Board, which is interesting.

Also, the Supt. and the First are now attempting to do "damage control" by visiting districts. I realize the 48 hour rule may have impacted the decision to release the offender. However, the 48 hour rule does not alleviate officers distrust of the lack of transparency regarding the investigation, or the public.

On a further note, I think FOP did a great job addressing this incident. President Angelo should be commended for handling this matter in a responsible, and timely manner. His public outcry in the media is truly probably what resulted in the charges being brought.

A more radical idea is proposed by a far leftist group- their website is www.stoppolicecrimes.com Their proposal is that a Citizen Police Accountability Council be made up of one citizen from one district elected by the people in that district. So I wonder what kind of people the citizens from 011, 010, 015, 007, 006, etc. will vote in? It gets worse. They are also proposing that the Council have the authority to write general orders and special orders. Sometimes I think this is all a long nightmare.

OK Deano, you finally are starting to act like a President! You need to realize that Rahmulus is NOT going to keep his word. Any position that he promised you in exchange for being a fetal President will not occur. Step up and start letting the public know what Eddie and RAHM are doing to their police & city. Start forming a strong contract negotiation team and be prepared to resist the contract changes that the city, the media, and #blm want to force feed. If you don't want to - put Ray in charge and proceed to that cushy spot which you covet. You will more than likely find out that someone else will get the job anyway. The working police need a President who is committed 100% to protecting their jobs and contract.

Not a prospective event -- it goes on constantly, in real time. The floodgates were opened ca. 1964. All generations -- past, present, and future -- raised up in this manner were doomed, are doomed, and will be doomed.

The city you see is the city they want -- all the way up to the top.

Whoever they are told to vote in. One blazing stolen car up your front steps at 3 AM, a mess of 7.62x39mm ball ventilating your house from front to back, one little kid lured into the alley in back of Grandma's and there executed, and the whole block listens.

Same here. Hundreds of guns, search warrants, dope pinches etc. 18 arrest this year and half of that is just responding to other people's jobs and taking arrest they don't want.

Still want to be aggressive, still love the job. Just absolutely not worth it.

* Shows woman taking a cop's nightstick and hitting him with it
* The officer is seen bleeding from the head before woman surrenders

Was looking at the NYPD Rant link the other day and found a thread by Jack Dunphy about the L.A. Police Commission meetings (accessible @ L.A. City TV 35 continuing series) that he calls 'Grievance Theater.' The assholes take over the meetings and are constantly being ejected or arrested. They ridicule the commissioners and the officers (read that as curse), and try to provoke physical confrontation. For me, (ret. cpd) it's very funny stuff and sad too for the breakdown of society that it represents. My only wish is for the Chicago Police Board to record and webcast their meetings for the sake of 'Transparency' and comedy!
