Shooting Update

  • The man shot to death by police in the boyhood home of Bulls star Derrick Rose had broken into the house with his girlfriend to find a man who robbed them three weeks ago, prosecutors said Monday.

Charles Smith was carrying a .40-caliber handgun when he and Breanna Patterson, 20, kicked open the front door of the home in the 7300 block of South Paulina around 4 a.m. Sunday, prosecutors said during a court hearing for Patterson.

As he and Patterson trashed the house and threatened residents at gunpoint, some of the occupants called 911, prosecutors said. Responding officers entered the home, ordered Smith to drop his gun, then fired when Smith shot at them several times, prosecutors said.

Smith was shot in the abdomen and died on the scene, they said. Smith would have been turning 30 on Tuesday. No officers were injured.
Happy Almost Birthday in Hell asshole. We're sure the family will have a cake or something and blame the police for him missing this milestone, and the media of course, will cover it.

And we just enjoy the hell out of his girlfriend being charged with his murder. We're still waiting for the Tribune to dig up some anti-police comments though....any second now....

If you haven't read the original story about six or seven posts down, the Tribune has been playing fast and loose with their editorial work, removing then replacing the anti-police rhetoric from a citizen who prefers the thugs to the police protecting her ass. There are also a lot of pro-police comments complaining about what the Tribune has removed in terms of people pointing out their obvious biases.

The more I read this blog, the more insight I get into media bias. We've all known it's out there but to see examples like the one you caught here is helpful. Keep up the good work.

The media has an agenda and news must fit that agenda. The media always knows best what the public needs to know about anything.

Funny , I also noticed that as well as the Anti-Gun slant over at the Scum-Times. In fact the Scum-Times ran virtually the same "op-ed" twice from some supposed "concerned citizens" stating the state should pass laws to regulate gun dealers to insure background checks. Funny I know there were multiple rebuttals to that nonsense sent to them via several different e-mail methods and addresses but somehow none of them made it to publication. So at both supposed "news" papers it seems the are nothing more than printed propaganda with very little real "news". News being the un-biased reporting of fact without opinion. Even in the last ghetto display of stupid , they attempt to humanize the "mother" as if to elicit some type of sympathy for the ghetto rat and blunt the consequences of her actions. Description of clothing and list her off-spring. Nobody cares about that crap. How about why at 4 am she provoked the urban do-gooder to go and kick down a door and threaten a group of people over a "robbery" Now there is the question most people would like answered right ?

Nobody trusts the Tribune. Um, that is why fewer and fewer people buy it everyday. They have run amuck at the Trib. Nobody knows what to think or when. But it does not seem fair that poor Breanna has to do hard time on a murder rap. She didn't kill anyone. Or, this is why the felony murder rule is my favorite statute. You get two dirt bags or more off the street on the same job. It is great. Besides Breanna is simply just another asshole in Englehood off the street and that can only help the community. So as joe average citizen, I say nice work CPD punching the ticket of the bad ass bad boy and lets make sure Breanna does time downstate.

"The man shot to death by police in the boyhood home of Bulls star Derrick Rose had broken into the house with his girlfriend to find a man who robbed them three weeks ago, prosecutors said Monday."

...and there you have it.

It's the new Policing For Us, By Us model!

As "violence interrupter" Ameena Matthews -- daughter of imprisoned gang leader Jeff Fort -- told ABC's Diane Sawyer, "We do not need nobody up in here telling us how to do."

All officers have to do is obey commands of area residents to "Leave your guns in the car" and "Put your guns down," and it'll be a new day for everyone.

Boy, will it ever.

Besides, the "community" has already shot 300 people just last month, while the police only shot one -- and look at last year's figures.

Final 2015 Totals
Shot & Killed: 443
Shot & Wounded: 2552
Total Shot: 2995
Total Homicides: 503

Police-involved shootings
Shot & killed: 9
Shot & wounded: 16

You can't argue with this kind of efficiency.

I get such a kick out of their "Blue Sky" "enterpreneurial" section. I guess there's no one there old enough, no one with the context to realize that that was always a JOKE about questionable financial schemes, etc.

Saw a storefront at Belmont/Central, remodeling job started by Me And My Brother From Poland Contractors and just abandoned halfway through when the money ran out, and boarded up with dirty old chipboard that was already coming apart in the rain.

Sign nailed to the outside, "CONTACT BLUE SKY INVESTMENTS" and a phone number...

What I wonder is if when the department starts with body cams will the POs be able to download their days activities for themselves? Suppose the PO's recording doesn't fit some bosses agenda and it is deleted, how does he cover himself? Suppose some politicians child is justifiably killed and it is all on camera, how does the PO insure that the video is preserved in total?

The tribune and the suntimes are competing for the most anti-police stories they are a dying breed, the amount of lies and bias they publish is sickening, are they enhancing their staff for the spring summer killing season? are they riding in the aclu sidecar maybe letting them know what they have done is made the thugs more emboldened! Johnny heard you on the radio talking about the "aclu effect" and denying it! Come on John and gold star merit club everyone knows coppers are not stupid and don't want you,the media, the rahm crew, toni and rest calling for the public hanging of coppers! A leader leads,a leader stands up for his soldiers, soldiers follow their leaders and if the leaders are scared and not support troops the breakdown is in!

Then we have a pathetic fop leader begging for money for dog operation, dean your the most silent fop president ever, did you get something from the city for the silence??

There have been NUMEROUS posts here about how the Trib HAS DELETED COMMENTS THAT WERE CRITICAL of their biased reportage of this incident.
They WERE deleted. Not 'maybe'.
The whole point is that they're playing fast and loose with their online article, the headline of the article and also with its comments.

Im sure this is all just a misunderstanding. Chicago PD need to be patient with situations like this.He did not mean to shoot at the po po.... this could have been worked out if only officers took more time with calming people down and assessing the situation.... or...... just another dead asshole who got what he was looking for. Sometimes The simple answer is the best answer.

One aspect that was missed in this incident is that the assailant, Charles Smith broke into an apartment, armed with his .40, terrorizes the several adults occupants insisting they knew who had robbed him. He could have let a couple rounds off to put some fear into them...right?
Smith decides rather than shoot at the occupants, he shoots at the police.
Shoots at the police...NOT the criminally involved folks he invaded.
It didn't take Smith a second to identify and target his natural enemy.
Smith was so angered by the folks who know who robbed him, but why did he take his anger out on the police?
Its the Culture of The Englewoods.
This is why it's best to allow De-escalation with a safer than safe response or simply mind your business when in Englewoods and let the 'hood resolve its own problems.
Did iPrah count the casings and account for all the holes?

"Fukyaw! We finna handle our own bidness!"

A pity The Police were FORCED IN SELF DEFENSE to expend ammo on this asshole.

Let them continue to sacrifice each other on their altars of willful ignorance,
hatred for the good the rest of society stands for and their love of death.

Have their beloved aclu and #blm respond and try to snatch a hot, being-banged-sideways pistol out of the hand of some adult 3 year old having a tantrum...

Anybody obtuse enough to still claim that the Police are the problem?

The Tribune, Sun-Times, and all other media that are online have no interest in real journalism. It's all about the clicks. Look at what makes headlines on Yahoo everyday and you will see what I mean. This story keeps changing in the Trib so they can get more clicks. I seriously doubt anybody here at a permit to carry.
