Battle of the Bands

  • It was a battle of the bands between some of Chicago's finest on the city's Northwest Side Saturday night.

Bands made up from the Chicago police and fire departments rocked out to take top honors in Battle of the Badge.

Proceeds raised will benefit organizations that help families of fallen police officers and firefighters.
We certainly hope it was a good turnout and people were generous with their donations.

Only Country & Classic Rock bands allowed.
If anyone brings that WXRT shit or the crap they spew just stay home.
Wanna hear "some Hillbilly Rock Stars Out of Control."
US99 or Classic Rock. Leave that Grunge crap at home too.
Vedder, Cornell, Cobain? Totally over rated.
U just ask "Iron Mike" up in 024 who's better Peter Gabriel or Phil Collins. That "Iron Mike" knows his music and most certainly how to be an effective Copper. MayB the "Iron Mike" should judge this "Battle of the Badges."

The sooner everyone accepts that the pensions are gone and deals with Rahm to get a good retirement through the private sector the faster there will be more cops hired.

He isn't the thief like Daley but he is a business man and won't hire any with the pension liabilities outstanding and possible litigation over Daleys actions.

Its like he started moving to charter schools because cps was unsustainable long term, especially seeing the upcoming battle over state funding about pensions. (Which the liability for rests solely on the state)

So stop looking at it as a dem/republican issue and start seriously looking at the city solely as a business. No business would hire police with this pension mess. Because if the city collapses it can't control its destiny which means the clowns in Springfield get full control and that is a lose-lose.

Retired here - I didn't hear anything about this. I know quite a few guys who would have shown up for this. Missed opportunity on the part of the organizers.

If it's a business, then let's sue it, because it STOLE MILLIONS from our pensions and squandered them on flower pots, repetitious construction, frivolous lawsuits and payola.

Let's demand the business open its books for all to see and let's arrest and prosecute the business managers, from Mr. I'm always too ill to testify Daley right up to the present regime.

OT: I was talking to another PO about Capt Ferrell not so long ago and got to wondering, are there any stand up bosses anymore? There was a guy who looked out for his people regardless to the cost to his career. Who would do that anymore? I fear, no one would.

Extremely sad but made me smile to see Sgt TF's son fill in his place. He took over the stage and did it so respectfully for someone so young. Whoever made the banner for TF did a stellar job. At one point it appeared he was one stage .....

Merit promotions. Since you owe someone for your promotion,
the chances are you will be less of a stand up guy than if you got promoted on your own.
By the way---Hi Renee.

If you're on facebook, friend the Chaplain's Unit because they were the charity the bands played for and there are many such activities that many retirees attend.
