Rahm's Plan for Chicago - SPEND!!!

  • He has big plans for the second term he fought so hard and spent so much to win.

Get high-speed rail from downtown to O’Hare Airport started.

Bring top chefs’ restaurants to O’Hare’s domestic terminals.

Build a shared police and fire training academy.

Possibly clean house at the Chicago Board of Education in the face of an ongoing federal investigation.
Usually when you're out of money, you stop spending it. At least until you know the next check is on the way...or cleared. Not this money manager though! He knows best!

His Sun Times Q and A is an eye-roller:
  • Q: The wording of the Supreme Court ruling was so strong. Haven’t you lost your leverage with police and fire unions?
A: I’ve said since Day 1 . . . that this day of reckoning was gonna come. We can’t put it off. Which is why I went so hard on getting both Laborer and Muncipal [pension fund reforms] done. And we are having right now healthy discussions with police and fire on how to resolve their pension security needs in a way that does not unfairly burden taxpayers.
Dean, you reading? Even the media acknowledges Rahm lost leverage. You damn well better be bending him over a barrel and hold him to the law passed in Springfield. Rahm has no power to adjust the pension - it's State Law, backed by the Illinois Constitution. We certainly hope that retirees don't have to sue the FOP for negotiating something that is supposed to be legislated.
  • Q: If you’re wrong, what happens?
A: I’m not gonna go in to court tactically with a public position, “The mayor says, ‘If we’re wrong here . . .’ ” But more importantly, we don’t believe we’re wrong.

    Q. You must have a Plan B.
    A: We believe we’re right. . . . I don’t think it’s the appropriate thing to discuss a Plan B while you’re going to court on Plan A.
Wow, no Plan B. That is a forward thinker boys and girls. You just can't get that type of leadership anywhere...it's a special kind of Chicago-stupid, like what's in the White House right now.

Here's a revelation:
  • Q: Is [McCarthy] staying for the four years?
    A: Yeah.
Damn. That throws off the over/under betting across the board. In any event, go read it all. Like we said, brilliant leadership here - damn the torpedoes and full speed ahead. Rahm doesn't care if he's headed for the cliff, he just wants to get there as quick as possible.

Amusing...
Garcia took a lot of shit-talk because he wanted to look at the books before making a big splash about "having a plan."

Rahm had the benefit of incumbency.
Incumbency is not unlike taking an open book quiz
When it comes to media questions pertaining to
budget/spending/finance.

Who's laughing up their sleeve now?

How does a top chef improve anything at the airport? Why would anyone want to save 10mins getting to the airport on the CTA, to get to a restaurant? Apparently he never been to Ohare. The lines are long, gates are disorganized and the food is...there. He hasn't even finished Daleys Ohare expansion money pit.

Guys, like it or not; there is a bankruptcy in Chicago's future. Wait until after the new fiscal year has begun.... The fact is the debt and pension issue is too big; and growing.. a property tax increase is not enough... Believe it or not, the ball is in the mayor's court... he files for bankruptcy, the slate will be wipe clean.. Federal rules will overtake all things state/city/county... Then..., then, economic growth will happen - companies will come... Gov employees will be affected the most... you can thank the officials you have elected and kept in office... Dried you clean... there should be term limits in Illinois.... sad what the pols have done here...

The job of the FOP as I see it is to educate the public on how it's not OUR fault they have to pay, but the POLITICIANS fault for not paying their bills when they were due. The political spin on how greedy public workers are is pure bullshit to anyone who knows the facts. But facts don't come from politicians, or the media. Political spin on their corruption and waste comes from them. FOP better take out some editorial space and air some ads showing the dumb sheep how they got screwed not by us, but by the hacks they elected.

Just a reminder for those who don't know the extremely tight and orchestrated web spun by Cook County/Chicago Democratic Machine...which includes RINO's (Republican's In Name Only). This following text is an excerpt from Greg Hintz at Crains circa March 2013:
******
....Which leads to a tale of Mr. Rauner's involvement—perhaps unintentional, perhaps not—with Stuart Levine, the notorious political fixer, federal felon and corrupt Springfield insider who helped bring down Rod Blagojevich, whose old job Mr. Rauner is eyeing.

In testimony during the 2008 trial of Blagojevich pal Tony Rezko, Mr. Levine and others said Mr. Levine had had a $25,000-a-month contract “consulting” for CompBenefits Corp., an Atlanta-based dental and vision benefits company once known as CompDent. According to its website, CompBenefits at the time of Mr. Levine's contract principally was owned by four private-equity firms, including GTCR LLC. Mr. Rauner, a founder of GTCR, is the “R” in the acronym.

Mr. Levine said his job was to get work for CompBenefits through whatever means were needed, including payoffs. A 2005 Sun-Times article says the firm then held contracts covering tens of thousands of workers at Chicago Public Schools and with the state.

Mr. Levine testified that he'd paid a bribe to obtain the CPS work, worked with insiders Bill Cellini and Ed Vrdolyak on other deals (both men later were convicted in unrelated federal cases) and plotted with Mr. Rezko to get work with Cook County via Orlando Jones, a key insider who later committed suicide.

quote|

Investors can get entangled in
all sorts of things.

Messrs. Levine and Rezko eventually went to prison on other matters, and prosecutors never took any action on CompBenefits. Perhaps that's because they could not corroborate Mr. Levine's testimony, or perhaps it's because some major figures were going to prison anyway. I don't know. Neither do I know whether Mr. Rauner or GTCR knew the details of what the firm was up to prior to the federal probe.

But I do know that Mr. Rauner, GTCR and Stu Levine had another interaction. That came in 2003, when the board of the Illinois Teachers' Retirement System—on which Mr. Levine served—first tabled and then approved GTCR's bid to get a $50 million investment from the giant pension fund.

According to a Sun-Times account, the bid stalled at the board's February 2003 meeting after Mr. Levine objected but then was zipped through in May, when Mr. Rauner attended the board session. Now-retired TRS Executive Director Jon Bauman corroborates the gist of the newspaper report. He adds that he believes the February flop mostly was because of a bad presentation by GTCR but also says he does not know the particulars of Mr. Levine's motives.

CompBenefits was acquired by Humana Corp. in 2007 for $360 million. In a statement, Humana says only that it “has never” employed Mr. Levine and “takes compliance and ethics very seriously.”

GTCR has had no comment but notes that CompBenefits said at the time of the TRS story that it would cooperate with any investigation.

Mr. Rauner, who might be able to answer questions about when he knew what, how long Mr. Levine was on the payroll and what kind of corrective actions GTCR might have ordered, hasn't been available to comment himself. A spokesman, Chip Englander, did release a statement saying GTCR began to do business with TRS “long before Mr. Levine entered the picture.”

The statement adds, “It's no surprise the long knives come out against a private citizen who's considering running for governor and bulldozing the insiders and failed policies of Springfield. Bruce has never been accused of wrongdoing.”

I'm certainly not accusing him of wrongdoing. But if he wants to be governor, I suspect he's going to have to say a lot more about how he and his firm did business in the state of Stu Levine, Tony Rezko and Rod Blagojevich.

Hmmmm????

And here is an excerpt from Business Insider John Carney showing how "it all works"...

...Barack Obama's new chief of staff spent two years working as an investment banker in Chicago. Wassterstein Perella paid Rahm Emanuel $16.2 million and made him a managing director, despite the fact that Emanuel had never held a job outside of politics before. So what did he do to earn that kind of pay day?

"He was a highly-paid deal-maker who enriched himself by using his government connections to enrich big business," Tim Carney writes. (Disclosure: blah, blah, blah, brother.)

From the Washington Examiner:

One of Emanuel’s two biggest deals never would have happened without government pressure. When telecom giant SBC bought fellow telecom company Ameritech, SBC executives intended to hold onto Ameritech’s home-security company SecurityLink.

But Bill Clinton’s Federal Communications Commission insisted that federal law required SBC to sell the security company. Clinton’s old right-hand man, Emanuel, happened to be working on behalf of a venture capital firm called GTCR Golder Rauner that wanted to buy SecurityLink from SBC. The government pressure helped Emanuel get his clients a good deal, as the Tribune tells the story:

“Under a regulatory deadline to divest itself of SecurityLink, SBC financed all but $100 million of GTCR’s $479 million purchase of the firm. Less than six months later, GTCR resold the company for $1 billion, earning a quick $500 million on its investment.”

The Rhode Island Supreme Court stated in Arena v. City of Providence, 919 A.2d 379, 389-390 (2007) that (a) the plaintiff retirees were not members of or represented by unions; (b) the plaintiff retirees are retirees and, as such, cannot be treated as employees as the United States Supreme Court found in Allied Chemical v. Pittsburgh Plate Glass, 404 US 157 (1971); and (c) the plaintiff retirees do not share a “community of interest” with active union members as current union members and retired members could have adverse interests. Note that these assertions were within the context of the Firefighters union attempting to “arbitrate” the COLA fight with the City. If the Court found the retirees to be union employees, the COLA benefits would have been arbitrable. The Court did not find the retirees to be union employees nor represented by the union and, as such, the dispute was not arbitrable.

The intelligent already have. See, your problem is you too believe the bullshit and lies foisted off on the people of Illinois and Chicago... you know... the lies that they're both too broke to pay what is constitutionally owed.

What you and basically all the other undereducated know it alls fail to realize or purposely fail to address is the:

1. Deliberate actions taken by the legislature to give away billions of tax dollars every year to the freeloader corporations in this state while they hold the state and it's actual taxpayers hostage with their bullshit threats of leaving to go bankrupt another state with their freeloader demands of forcing taxpayers to line their investors pockets with our tax dollar profit.

2, Deliberate actions of the City of Chicago to divert tax revenue AWAY from it's lawfully intended purpose which is to pay for the services this city is mandated to provide for it's inhabitants.

No state in this country CAN file a bankruptcy. This country and it's federal government (owned by the anointed rich of this country) will never grant states the authority to go bankrupt. See, what you fail to understand is that just because the government WANTS the entire country subservient to government doesn't mean countrywide austerity and financial collapse is the preferred way to get there.

This country cannot afford to become the last entity to collapse among the world. This country has blown it's own bullshit horn for hundreds of years as being superior to all others. Failure, as in allowing financial collapse is NOT going to make the rich any richer. In fact the opposite will happen and there'll be nowhere for them to hide if they allowed it.

So it's YOU who need to wake up churl. This state can NEVER file bankruptcy. Chicago will not EVER be granted to proceed into bankruptcy because no plan can ever be presented to a court that can hide all the assets and financial income this city already has to pay it's debts.

Learn about municipal bankruptcy. Learn how a bankruptcy occurs and how the control procedures must be followed. Then learn what an "asset" is.

Then think again about whether Chicago can actually get a filing past a judge anywhere in this country, The short answer is NO.

But you keep reading the script for them. They'll con you all into giving away what's yours so the rich can keep lining their pockets with the skim from YOUR taxes that THEY don't pay.

Telling the stupid they're broke by deliberately cutting services to prove it are what cons the stupid.

Keep being stupid.

Quit talking bankruptcy you city hall trolls. Never gonna happen. Why? Because in bankruptcy court, the books are open and all secrets are exposed. The court must approve ALL expenditures. That means THE END of pinstripe patronage.

"...it's State Law, backed by the Illinois Constitution..."

How does this argument hold up when there simply is no more money left in the coffers? Conjure it up out of thin air?

Start by cutting all the abuses with LINK - you got Arabs loading up Carts of snacks and pop at Jewel - only to go sell it at their ghetto stores for all profit. Remember when they wanted to put a picture on the Link card as a form of ID? They said it would be too embarrassing ? Billions wasted on this program. Fix all the Fraud programs - before u start blaming pensions -

What happens if our cocksucking mayor fails to put the half billion into out pension systems.

5/18/2015 02:40:00 PM

Sales tax revenues and certain other funds, like grants, that would ordinarily go to the City will be withheld and placed in the pension fund until the required dollar amount is reached, according to the State law that mandates the 500 million dollar payment.

----------------------------------

Hmmmm.. sounds like restaurants are hurting.

Saturday night is a prime night, but don't expect me to come downtown - that's LONG over.

It's just not the threat of crime happening. Crime already occurs with outrageous parking costs and super sales tax.

So even if the restaurants do hire you, I won't be there.

I am not going to pay $50 for parking or 10% sales tax. Right there is highway robbery. The crime has already happened.

CompBenefits took over our dental for a while, maybe still. I spoke to my dentist about CompDent. Dentist told me "pretend you don't have dental insurance." It's that bad. Only increased benefits once in 29 years. I had implants done, I paid for them myself. City sucks.

As a business owner, when costs go up, prices go up and pass the costs on to the customer. That's common business practice, if it costs residents more money for protection, then it costs more !!! We pay more for a gallon of milk, a gallon of gas and a burger at McDonalds. If we need to raise taxes to pay for premium protections, then raise them !! Its not like we are talking about Andy Frain security guards.

You can't reform what can't be deminished but can change the outcome of future hires and how they will invest for their future but by doing this your cutting your nose to spite your face because future hires put into existing fund, just reach in your left pocket and right pocket and pay the bill, quote from training Day!

Rahm my be bettng on Federal Bailout like they did for the Savings & Loans and the auto industry.

It may be a last bit for the Messiah BHO and something to help swing Hillary. It could also come with a lot of strings attached, like Chicago taking another ten or twenty thousand ObamA refugee kids and putting all employees on Obamacare.

Federal Bailout, to the Democommunists it only means running the printing presses a little overtime.
