Logical Conclusion

So since there are no more weed prosecutions and soon there won't be any more prosecutions for "recreational" heroin, cocaine and ecstasy, are we going to see some new faces in the Districts? Obviously, there isn't a need for all that manpower at the west side Black Site. You can only keep so many torturers on staff and then you're just being redundant. We could use the help in the District.

It's obvious that this is considered a money-saver on some level, so why not save a boatload of money? Is Anita planning on a few dozen, maybe a few hundred ASA's getting laid off? Less prosecutions means less connected lawyers drawing a check, right? You can just have a legal secretary or some first year law student swing into the courtroom and Nolle Pros the entire batch of arrestees.

Maybe the lawyers can all become substance abuse counselors.

Might as well close down Homan square immediately, how many more "boots on the ground" can we get in uniform on the west end of 008 where people pay taxes for services not rendered? With all the "spare" coppers now why not put them where they will be respected for their excellent work? Legal Question:

Since the laws are still on the books in the State of Illinois and the States Attorney is REFUSING to prosecute on all cases, is she breaking the law since she took an oath to do a particular job as State's Attorney?

4/21/2015 06:56:00 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

So much for a separation of powers. When the executive branch starts creating laws, such as new laws about enforcing other, properly enacted laws, there is a breakdown in government function. That is why we have a legislative branch. Anita's job is to enforce laws on the books, not to make up laws as she goes. Time for someone (FOP) to head on over to Daley Center and ask the Chancery Division for an injunction. Or better yet, seek a writ of mandamus ordering Anita to prosecute the laws as written. Ridiculous. Can this County be any more of a joke?

Oak Park's famous Heather Mack -- 88 visits by OPPD to Wiese-Mack home on violent domestics, broken arms, etc. -- just got trust-fund justice in Indonesia. 10 years for sitting on the suitcase trying to get it to latch with Mom's body inside (at the very least). "Her new bay-bee needs it$ mother."

Fruit-bowl bludgeoner Tommy Schaefer gets 18 years. He got a new baby too? Could have been firing squad in jungle at midnight for both of them.

Killer showed gratitude for his life by cursing and beating up two cameramen outside court.

"Corruption within the justice sector is seen by its ineffectiveness to enforce laws, failure to uphold justice, hence undermining the rule of law. The areas of corruption within this sector include the police and the courts. In the 2008 Public Sector Integrity Survey, the Supreme Court ranked the lowest in integrity in comparison to the other public services in Indonesia. The courts were viewed to make decisions unfairly and have high 'unofficial costs.'"

Top Indonesian ‘Anticorruption’ Judge Is Arrested for Graft

Let's save even more money. Since all of this drug use is "recreational" there is no need for taxpayers to get involved. Like skydiving, it's a recreation with an assumed risk.

So, no money for these rehab programs and bogus drug courts and no-show "diversion programs."

And forget the Narcan kits. Your "recreational" activities are none of my business, so I'll just step aside.

----------

No one goes to jail "for a joint or two" unless they're also wanted for murder. This "prisons-are-full-of-kids-who-smoked-a-joint" is a myth -- just like the "medical use" myth -- that the doper lobby has repeated ad infinitum through the liberal press and is now accepted as truth by the American public.

And yes, rehab will be more expensive because the only people going to prison for drugs these days are dealers. Under the new no-charge policies, dealers will now be treated as users and avoid lockup. On the street they will continue to deal, commit other crimes, and collect welfare and other taxpayer subsidized freebies in amounts that will vastly exceed the cost of incarceration.

Fines cannot be collected from druggies. This is another myth -- that we can tax drug users.

If I was arrested for a non- drug offense, I would ask for medical help instead of criminal prosecution. I would also ask for amnesty since this is a sanctuary city and county. Bullshit.

The Crook SAO hasn't prosecuted "personal use amount" cases for more than a decade. Alvarez's public abdication to druggies yesterday only formalizes a long-standing policy she's enforced.

Drugs have been de facto legal in Crook Co for years.

Besides, working as an attorney for the SAO is more about is more about being clouted and always having a safe job than it is about workload.

Plenty of crime in Crook, btw. Know that?

This is just the beginning of the end. It might take 30-50years but this country(world)is heading for the edge. People sure don't study History and seem to repeat it thinking they know better than the past mistakes. Rome, one of the most powerful nations of its time, had the best army and political system of the time, fell from within, with it's low moral standards and disregard for leadership and let the people descend into moral decay. With same sex marriage, low family structure, and now legal use of narcotics on the horizon, it's just a matter of time, that we follow their example. No army could defeat Rome, as none can defeat the USA. They don't have to, we will fall from within. Wake up people(politicians).

I agree. After a lifetime of law enforcement, drug addicts need medical help not prison. De criminalization of possession for personal use is the only way. The, put the dealers into a dark damp prison and take their assets and use the assets for drug treatment programs. I know this will effect other aspects of law enforcement such as an inducement to be an informer, but this war on drugs has gone nowhere in the past 20 years. Lets try something different.

Remember Dart did it with evicting apartment building tenants in the winter a few years back. Don't get me wrong, I thought it was a decent thing to do however there is something not up to par when a politician boldly professes they will not follow the law and uphold their job responsibilities. Who of us haven't looked the other way or helped someone beat a situation that could have got us in trouble? But when you do it, there's a humility in it where you recognize you can get in trouble for doing what you think its best and you don't want to draw attention. It's the bold proclamations of "I'm doing what I want to do" that I don't trust.

What's the next step-reducing Class X amounts to misdemeanor amounts and being a misdemeanor it will get tossed anyway??
And if she does do this-why not simply DECRIMINALIZE it completely, make it legal-at least that will remove the subsidized monies to street gangs and possibly reduce a few of the senseless shootings.

2. Go all in and Set up a City of Chicago Court system with our own Judges and Prosecutors. And then Kick the County out of the City and make them all move to friggin Markham or Skokie.

Like we really need Cook County in the City? Hell...seperate the City from the County and go all City of Chicago, county of Chicago.

My nephew went to jail for $2.00 worth of pot. Is not the weed. Is the stupid arrest. But you have so many unsolved murders and don't forget the rape kits that no one has investigated.

4/21/2015 10:49:00 AM

I call BS on this.

Or your nephew got stupid and talked himself into the back of the squad.

Or your nephew didn't have ID on him.

Who gives a shit? All you have to do is long onto your pdt and camera, then let your sgt know. Oh, and only do contact cards on your beat. Piece of cake.....

4/21/2015 02:14:00 AM

I give a shit. I have children, I live in a neighborhood with people. My wife has a job in the city around people.

Heroin is a terrible drug, and if there is no real penalty for using it, watch what happens.

The world does not revolve around you. I know you think it does. Maybe, and I could be wrong, you probably sandbag people on tickets to work VRI because you don't give a shit.

So this is code talk for "I'm a lazy pos". Since when do two grams get tossed. A gram, yeah not two. And gun pinches with no other charges get destroyed and tossed. Thanks for letting us know you've been doing nothing for 25 years.

You said "doing nothing." I said dope and guns. That leaves more out there for you.

And what I wrote is what several ASA's told me. Less than 2 grams gets tossed. And they did, I went to Br 57 much more than once. Less than 2 grams got tossed. Period. That's the way it was and possible still is. How many years have you observed in sentencing for 2 grams? How about 2.5 grams? Maybe 1 year don't do it again probation? Wow. And confiscate and destroy? Forget it. If I came across one, they got housed, I didn't go looking, not to simply melt down a gun.

Judge not lest ye be judged.

I go pantyless. Remember, marijuana is a gateway drug. It leads directly to the hard stuff. I know because it said so on the wall of the old 015th District station where I spent much of my youth.

OFf topic, but if only justice could be served so quickly in the U.S., arrested for murder in August 2014, found guilty and sentenced in May 2015:

It might have been 'efficient', but it was hardly 'justice'.

And the best part was the rationale for the short sentences. She just had a baby, so we gave her a much shorter sentence. (What?!) He was contrite and very polite in court, so we only deemed the woman's life was worth 18yrs.

Minor drug charges go nowhere in court. These offenders suffer from an illness called drug addiction, they need help instead.

4/21/2015 06:16:00 AM

LOL, apologist liberal jackasses have ruined society. Right, and thieves suffer from an addiction to other peoples shit and pedophiles suffer from an addiction to young tail and murderers suffer from an addiction to solving problems through violence...ad nauseum. I hope some junkie takes a shit right in the middle of your ridiculous left leaning life.

Damn, no more 6 officers on a two-bagger?! That'll cut by 75% what the Area Saturation Teams do on a daily basis to justify their existence.

Look out, West and South side residents!!! MCC gambling, DOPW and Public Urination enforcement is about to skyrocket.

4/21/2015 01:58:00 AM

Oh really , well there is this street gang contact on parole thing so see you in the district! Now go answer your domestic ! Dam Bt cars keeping telling yourself you are the backbone of the department .

4/21/2015 11:20:00 AM

Long form TVB's, criminal trespass and holding an offender are all cb #'s we can get easily. But here is the real question? Who cares? Do your 20 and get out! Nobody cares how much activity you get. Nobody cares you have family issues or personal issues. So take care of yourselves and keep your priorities straight. We are too busy fighting each other that we don't see the department and the union shoving it up our ass. So how is that pension being funded now?

I should be dead then. good grief
