Another Cop Shot At

  • Two men have been charged after gunshots were fired toward an off-duty Chicago Police officer Thursday night in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side.

Gustavo VillaGomez, 27, and Kevin Martinez, 20, both face one count of aggravated assault of a peace officer with a weapon, a felony, according to a statement from Chicago Police. VillaGomez was also cited for driving on a revoked license and Martinez was on bond for a previous firearm-related charge.

About 10:55 p.m. Thursday, the off-duty officer was at a red light in his personal vehicle in the 2600 block of West Division when an SUV approached on the passenger side and people inside yelled gang slogans at him, police said.

He identified himself as a Chicago Police officer and began to drive away, when the SUV followed and its occupants fired shots in his direction, police said. No one was injured.
Gee, out on a previous gun charge? Anita, you want to chime in on that one?

Twice in two days...be very very careful.

The state's attorney's office and the judges need to be held responsible for these people constantly being out on serious charges.

Isn't this within a block of where the other shots were fired at the off-duty while in his car? Is this the same officer being targeted a second time?

You better carry off duty!

Keep a spare magazine of +p ball ammo
for close encounters with vehicle-borne
bandits.

Those of you with .357 Magnum wheel guns?

Get a box of ammo loaded to the original 1935 FBI specs or better...158 grain fmj/jsp/hard cast, gas checked Keith at 1500+ fps and 800+ foot pounds at the muzzle.

You ARE the boss at spontaneous door handle to door handle shitbird encounters if you play your part.

The .357 Magnum was designed with vehicle-borne assholes in mind.

Make these m/fers pay.
Just because war has been declared on The Police
doesn't mean you just gotta give your life to these assholes just because Wysinger and McCarthy prefer that you give up your lives because Policemen fighting back might make Rahm angry.

These fuckers are nowhere to be found at that magic moment a Policeman realizes that shit is about to turn
sour.

Be ready to tear your vehicle up too.
Fuck that car! That's why you have insurance!

And doubly fuck tha other car with those
grinnin' assholes in that other car.

If shit goes south, put the funky m/fers on a fire hydrant or one of those old iron lamp posts then
finish them off.

Oh wait...
"You Cops gotta play by the rules even if we don't!
You guys aren't allowed to viciously protect your own
lives. And you're only allowed a minimal expenditure of ammunition. If you shoot too fast, too hard and too much, charges of brutality and violation of civil rights will definitely be on the table. Fuck what happens to you... You knew it would be like this when you signed up for the job."

Gangbangers now step up since the courts don't punish them. And if the off-duty cop screws up? He's gonna be punished to the fullest.

In the world of Anita and Rahm and Daley and all the other liberals, if the victim was one of the catered to constituency, this event would be a hate crime. Except in this case it's a hate crime against the police.

Where is the hate crime law requiring an additional 25 years minimum, solidary, for this?

This incident, again, shows that criminals have no regard whatsoever for the laws that the likes of Daley and Alvarez really create laws circumventing the 2A to fuck with law abiding people.

The woman beaten on the Blue Line, this incident and the Uber driver who shot and thwarted the mass shooter the other week and the gestapo tactics against the Scott Walker supporters who were raided and told to keep quiet about it by democrat directed police SWAT teams outside Milwaukee shows the brilliance of the fathers of this country.

I'm not a cop so excuse the lack of knowledge about this, but why only aggravated assault? Shouldn't shooting a firearm at a person be attempted murder? So shouldn't the charges be attempted murder of a police officer, firearm without a FOID card, and carring a firearm with a CCW? Why not throw the book at these sh*theads?

If I'm alone and that happens to me "I'm ejaculating with joy"

Step 1. Ram there car.
Step 2. Assault through the position.
Step 3. Establish a perimeter.
Step 4. Step 4 await police response to generate a report.
Step 5. Blow 0.0000's
Step 6. Go home and watch training day.

They make special holsters for vehicle for rapid deployment. Ever try to take your gun out quickly while sitting in a car? Not including wearing a seatbelt, and having it covered by shirt or coat? It's a bitch! I'd suggest practice or invest in a special vehicle holster. I put mine in center console works great the way mine is designed, can have it out in a second.

the real reason is politics and budget problems. lower charges, lower bond, shorter jail stay, less money spent. it has nothing to do with safety or the lack thereof.

Unfortunately nothing will happen to them in Crook county. it's a pro-criminal county. Maybe even a dismissed case. The court will feel that the victim caused the violence.

An Attempted Murder charge puts a much higher burden of proof on the State Attorney's office. It's much harder to prove intent, thus much harder to get a conviction.

Where are the gun control groups? Oh ya, they only protest law abiding citizens. If you are a criminal and a judge catches you twice with an illegal gun, and then lets you go, no gun control protests. I guess they are not serious about illegal guns since they only target legal ones.

This is Cook County. We would never get attempted murder charges unless the policeman is shot numerous times and is half dead in the hospital.

Unless the victim is a political heavyweight. Daley etc. It sure fits the statute, I agree.

That is a good question for a citizen to ask Anita Alvarez. The woman who never heard of makeup.

But it's been like that since I came on 30 years ago. Cook County: the land of the misdemeanor murder.

Yes, it's the zone in 014. The place has been placated, but Democrats that support Luis Gutierrez still occupy the territory. It flares up from time to time. It's an interesting battle. They smile at you and then do everything possible to tear you down (Cr's, lawsuits, negative blogging, education of youth to hate the police, ets.)

Preferably handloaded using WW296 powder and out the barrel of a 4" or 6" Colt Python.

Spot on comment. Reminds me of a great line from Robert Urich in MAGNUM FORCE: "You shouldn't be out on the street if you can't shoot well. Killers don't make allowances." And that's a fact, especially when you see the brazen natures of the little Trayvons and Michael Browns of the world.

the illinois murder statute allows for recklessness ... so it's really not that hard to prove ... you don't have to prove he intended to kill the cop, you have to prove he knew "such acts create a strong probability of death"

Sec. 9-1. First degree Murder - Death penalties - Exceptions - Separate Hearings - Proof - Findings - Appellate procedures - Reversals.
(a) A person who kills an individual without lawful justification commits first degree murder if, in performing the acts which cause the death:
(1) he either intends to kill or do great bodily harm

to that individual or another, or knows that such acts will cause death to that individual or another; or
(2) he knows that such acts create a strong

probability of death or great bodily harm to that individual or another; or
