Put This One to Rest

Bush was telling the truth? Yeah, seems like it:
  • The United States recovered thousands of old chemical weapons in Iraq from 2004 to 2009 and destroyed almost all of them in secret and via open-air detonation, according to a written summary of its activities prepared by the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, the international body that monitors implementation of the global chemical weapons treaty.

The 30-page summary, prepared after quietly held meetings between the organization’s technical staff and American officials in Washington in 2009, was provided to The New York Times by the Pentagon on Friday.

It included a table disclosing limited details on 95 separate recoveries and destructions of chemical warheads, shells or aviation bombs, for a total of 4,530 munitions from May 2004 through February 2009 — a period of often intense fighting in Iraq.
This is the New York Times reporting it finally - we expect they'll be running corrections over the next decade or so. And we'll probably hear Hillary claim she supported the war after she said she didn't after she voted for it.

I served in Iraq in 2003-2004. The overthrow of Saddam and his evil sons and making sure there were no WMD's was justified. It needed to happen.

However, staying an extra 8 years "nation building" was the biggest blunders in my opinion.

We could have left in 2004 and the outcome in Iraq would have been the same as it is today. But had we left in 2004 we wouldn't have lost 4,000+ more US troops. AND cost US taxpayers $1 Trillion dollars!

We need "nation building" here in the USA!!

The "Bush lied, people died" crowd beat this to death even in the face of evidence already available. This is really and inconvenient truth for them. They head on to this like a religion. It's almost like they had an agenda.

I was, of course talking about the "Mainstream Media" which we should rename the "Agenda Driven Media". They led the American people down the path to this Administration. They foisted this President on us with half truths and out right lies and they should be held accountable for pushing this agenda.

This Agenda Driven Media must be exposed for what it is and minimalized in the eyes of all Americans. Let truth be the goal. America is smart enough to make the right calls.

Oh sure they’ve got to fess up now to give Sparkle Farts and excuse to fight ISIS by saying those weapons that didn’t exist before fell into their hands but what will our king actually do? He’ll bomb Syria like he wanted to all along but Congress said no.

This really isn't *new* news. Except for the fact that it's in the New York Slimes.

Almost from day one many-many Conservative websites posted articles about us finding Chemical Weapons in Iraq. The problem was that the articles were in the 'New Media' so the Lamestream Press Ignored it all.

Adding to that was the libtard leftist websites pooh-poohing the finding of those WMDs because of things like they weren't all in one huge stockpile, a central location, like say a typical Ammo Dump. And there weren't photos of the WMDs Like This for the retards to look at.

Another problem was that the Bush Admin was absolutely terrible at getting information out to the public. The main culprit was Dubya's own Press Secretary, Scott McClellan. This guy could barely string to sentences together and was eaten alive at the daily press conference by the leftist MSM 'journalists'. I swear, Scott McClellan had to be the worst Press Secretary in U.S. history.

---- I was very active on a certain Conservative Website back then and we all called McClellan, 'Mumbles'. -----

1) Gas isn't a very good WMD.

2) Why wouldn't the GWB Admin have trumpeted this far and wide? They took so much flak for "no WMDs found". Maybe these were weapons Iraq got from us in the 80s?

However, staying an extra 8 years "nation building" was the biggest blunders in my opinion.
And make that double for Afghanistan. 2 Islamic Republics established - good job!

Gee, I thought that GW Bush said that the cause for war against Iraq was that Iraq had an active program of making WMDs as of 2003, not (what everyone knew, although certain people pretended not to) that Iraq had previously acquired (from Regan and GWH Bush) WMD, and still had some defunct weapons.

HMM, you don't feel embarrassed that the main dump from which AQ and friends is getting this material is one which the US was aware of prior to the war, and bombed, no less, prior to the war, no less? Or that the US failed to clean it up after invading? Or did you not read the NYT article?

Heck, if this kind of BS (and frankly, that is what this rehash is) were tried on the stand, you'd get tagged with perjury.

Did anyone even bother reading the article? All chemicals weapons found and destroyed were fabricated pre gulf war in 1991. Bush was claiming Saddam had an active program which this article debunks.
