- A 16-year-old boy is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail after approaching a 17-year-old man and shooting him in the chest last week.
Such a fine line between "boy" and "man" evidently. But you know if he was shot by the police, he's be a "teen" or "boy" or "child" until at least age 20, especially if he was "turning his life around" or an "aspiring brain surgeon."

--- c) the races of a & b
--- d) who is doing the talking / writing

The Tribune follows state law and the AP Stylebook regarding who is a considered a juvenile. Even when charged as an adult, someone under age 18 is a boy. If you see someone age 18 or 19 referred to as a girl or boy in the Tribune, that's a mistake.
And what about the Department, which, despite being told by the state's attorney's office that there is _no reason_ to keep from releasing information on juveniles tried as adults, persists in refusing to release said juveniles' names and mugshots?

Like the "mean" way you think. The only adults are women, Moms Against Things & The Dads Who Support Them (for fear of being cut off from strictly rationed affection) and LGBT persons over 30 are the only adults.

Felony charges for every violent thug aged 14 and above. Hire more cops and state attorneys. Build more prisons. Of course, I don't know where in the world the money will come from to get this done, but IT NEEDS TO GET DONE.
