This is an Amusing Turn

The thing keeping most people out of public office is that's is just so damn expensive to run. Rahm has a war chest of several million raised from all sorts of sources in and outside of Chicago. Someone else just tapped into a pool of cash though:
  • The head of the American Federation of Teachers says the national union is ready to spend $1 million to help Karen Lewis unseat Mayor Rahm Emanuel if the Chicago Teachers Union president decides to run.

“I did say privately to Karen and at our executive council meeting that if Karen was to run, we would be all in,” AFT leader Randi Weingarten told the Chicago Sun-Times in an interview Tuesday. “In a race like this, spending $1 million would not be unprecedented for the AFT.”

Weingarten said Emanuel “has shown a deep disrespect for what public education is all about.”
Might this be the boost that pushes Lewis into the race?

So our choices for mayor are a communist teacher and a carpetbagger socialist suburbanite? Great.

So is FOP gonna put any manpower or cash in the election?

Or does the membership that does not vote honestly think that endorsements win elections.

Time to start picking sides...

It's amazing where money comes from when there's an agenda to push. Heaven forbid money ever appeared to shore up pensions.

No question Karen Lewis is formidable leader for her causes. She is intelligent, well spoken and dynamic for the groups she represents. I welcome her comments when they are based on public policy, and not race. However, her comments far to often seem to have racial undertones. Chicago is the "City of Big Shoulders." It is not a Black city, or Brown city. The City of Chicago is a community of diversity that includes Blacks, Hispanics, Asians and Whites. Diversity should be welcomed. Mrs. Lewis' comments far to often seem to be about fractions and division, instead of addition and multiplication. I hope she changes her message to be more centrally based. Further, she is a union leader. I have major issues with a union leader being the CEO of the City. Government change not be all things to all people.

Signed,

Not a Friend of Rahm

She would be worse than Rahm as a mayor. She'd spend like Daley yet only the middle class, upper class and business community would have to pay for it. And guess what, it wouldn't be long before the middle class, business class and business community has enough and decides to move on to someplace else.
She's a socialist of the highest order. Don't let the fact that she's a union person sway your support. Think of all the times she's made every issue about race. It's pretty obvious how she feels about anyone who isn't black or brown.

YOU DO NOT NEED A LOT OF MONEY TO DEFEAT RAHM!!!
He is so unpopular right now that 80% of the public would vote for an opponent - almost any opponent. Even a Republican such as Kirk Dillard could win an election vs. Rahm. Run Kirk Run.

The Unions haven't fully yet chimed in...that's serious dough. Labor partially sided with Rahmf. SEIU & Labor backs Quinn. Every state & local teacher union is too. If these unions back her and when businesses get on board, Rahm will finally pack up his wedding dress for good. Unless he can find his Epton soon, he's done.

Yes the democrats condemn and bemoan when a corporation contributes money to a candidate or cause but they never say a word about the unions who contribute millions to their liberal candidates. Karen Lewis might be an intelligent candidate but she heads a corrupt union that protects a failing school system staffed with incompetents whom she protects. If she is elected as mayor of Chicago that will for sure speed the downward path of Chicago. What we need is a statesman, a leader who will stand up to special interests.

Hey Mt Greenwood Hillbilly, wake up, the middle class has already been royally fucked.

There's 3 classes of people today, the poor, the rich and the working poor (former middle class).

How many side jobs do police work to try and give their children a fighting chance in life?

And as much as you may try when it's all over YOU will be poor.

What qualificaties her to run for mayor of Chicago????? She is not a leader, the members decide what is going to be their goal and then ask who wants to stand out front. I say she is not qualified and her followers are just insuring they get the money they need to continue to be a bunch of lazy loafers too stupid to get employment and pretending to be do-gooders.

Left-Wing Teachers Want Convicted Cop-Killer Set Free

The memo has gone out, the date has been saved. This coming Tuesday, radicals of all stripes will descend upon the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington D.C. to rally in support of convicted cop killer

Officially known as "Occupy the Justice Department," the event is endorsed by the usual group of malcontents, including "*Educators for Mumia Abu-Jamal" - a collection of left-wing teachers from across the country.

Among Mumia's many well-wishers in the K-12 community is Milwaukee Teachers' Education Association President Bob Peterson, the entire Chicago Teachers Union, and the Rethinking Schools crew who produce anti-American lesson plans and teaching materials that are used in countless classrooms.

I'm asking a simple question. Of course it's rhetorical. Why can Lewis state that if she doesn't run for mayor, she will help find and back a suitable black candidate. How long would any white politician last if he said those exact words substituting white for black. "If I don't run for mayor I will help find and back a suitable white candidate." Amazing how bad the double standards are. Why is this always OK with the average guy and never denounced by the press or public. Racism is racism and certain minority groups are a hundred times more guilty and open about it.

Yes, looks like you are a liberal with a lot of white guilt. Lewis has made racial statements in the past and has openly called for more black teachers and less white teachers. I would not vote for any racist, white or black.
