Quinn Fires Lottery Firm

  • Bowing to a lackluster bottom line, Gov. Pat Quinn’s administration moved Friday to terminate the state’s contract with Northstar Lottery Group, the private vendor that manages the Illinois Lottery. “The administration has had serious concerns with Northstar’s performance. The governor demands every state contractor be held accountable for their performance,” Quinn spokesman Grant Klinzman said.

The company is running $238 million short in projected earnings it had promised the state this fiscal year.

And during the past three years, the company has underperformed by roughly $480 million, prompting calls from some lawmakers for the Quinn administration to pull out of what had been a 10-year contract with the company to run the day-to-day operations of the state’s $2 billion lottery.
Chronic mismanagement.

This is not a problem but an opportunity.
A new firm with new bribes.

OT: Is there any truth to the rumor that the Cubs and Sox will be dedicating a home half of an inning to our illustrious superintendent? I believe it will be known as "The Garry McCarthy bottom of the fifth."

Yeah, it looks like Quinn is "on top of it" but who are the execs of the company?

How connected are they? Not if they are connected but who were they?

Avis LaVelle was the company spokesperson, who were the top people?

Funny how they get all the guy's information when some small-time business fails to pay a tax or does something wrong, but connected firms? they just seem to drift away into the Midnight.

Quinn was also boasting how unemployment has fallen in Illinois for 5 months in a row.

There's so many sheep out there that bought it hook-line and sinker.

No-one asked why the rate went down. What happened to the size of the Illinois workforce, how many non-farm payroll jobs were lost over this same period. The number of people that dropped out of the workforce accounting for the fall in unemployment and most importantly WHAT KIND OF PART-TIME TEMPORARY JOBs were created if any.

I'll tell you what you do.

Look at an alternative measure of how Illinois economy is doing.

Look at the over two million people on the food stamp caseloads here and rising and tell us again how the economy is so much better.

And now there is another chance for a new set of kickbacks from the next lottery manager.

They better hurry, because Quinn will be out in 4 months.

Using that logic, Potato Head's sorry ass should also be launched.

He is, technically speaking, a 'contractor' elected by the Sheeple of this state to 'fix' various broken things, including but not limited to: job growth, Illinois businesses, underfunded pensions, tax revenues, state prisons and the farming and coal industries.

I want to see Pat Quinn "held accoutable for his performance". Perhaps it'll be at the polling places.

Shit, the only reason Gov. Potatohead didn't pull out sooner is because this is a thinly veiled political ploy to convince the voters that he actually cares about saving money, and doing the right thing....

The only people that believe him are the baaaaaa, bbaaaaaaa, sheeple, baaaaaa, baaaaaaa....

Then maybe Pat Quinn should be held accountable for his pathetic mismanagement of this State. Voted worst governor in the United States. LOSER!!!

When ever those in management talk about improving or making change for the better they are NEVER talking about themselves
Remember he sort of has an excuse he pushed into that position by the conviction of blowjobavich.

I quit playing after I no longer had a winner for every other ticket I played. They would keep the games going even after all the prizes were awarded! You had to go online and see which games had all the winning tickets sold. Legalized theft. I just did it for fun but other people believed it was for real. Guess you can't fool all the people all the time?

Here's an idea that Gov Potato-Head should seriously consider as to who should get the contract for running the Illinois Lottery: The Chicago Outfit!

I'm *serious*.

No other group has the experience of running a Gambling Operation like 'The Mob' does. And for decades and decades they successfully ran the 'Numbers Game' (policy racket), and for a profit.

Heck, everyone knows that when you clear all the fancy crap away -- all the pretty graphics of the lottery tickets and cute names -- that's what the Lottery boils down to, The Numbers Game.

And I'm *sure* The Outfit would be open to this proposal as the Wise Guys really could use the work now. It's pretty well known that The Outfit ain't exactly what it used to be [talk about 'down sizing' -- sheesh :-)].

So what's there to lose? It's not like a bunch of crooks aren't involved with running the Lottery now. With The Outfit, at least the crooks would be Men Of Honor.

"...the Rauner tax plan would produce welcome changes to the sales tax, but as a whole would result in a massive cut in state revenue that would require an equally massive cut in spending on education, health care, human services, and public safety. Rauner offers no specifics on what programs he would cut. And he offers support for an unspecified increase in the minimum wage contingent on controversial business reforms."

Be warned. Billionaire speculator and hedge-fund-manipulator Rauner ain't your asshole buddy just because he pulls a Harley out once in a while for a photo op, just because he puts on some Carharrt work clothes and shitkickers and goes downstate to bulls__t the fine people there.

He got a big card in the Rolodex Of Evil. All know each other, all work together to snip your d__k off.
